The Communications team is focused on driving programs and activities that evolve, promote and protect Mastercard’s reputation among key internal and external audiences. The broader team has been designed to closely mirror the business, align to corporate and business-level objectives and support the company’s efforts in delivering world-class payments experiences.

The Manager of External Communications within the Global Product & Engineering organization will be focused on developing strategic communications programs and campaigns to advance Mastercard’s reputation as a trusted, purpose-driven innovator. The role will be responsible for elevating the company’s innovation position, reputation and brand perception with key external stakeholders including media, customers, prospects, and more.

In addition, the Manager will lead the development of product innovation editorial content, advancing the digital presence of senior business leaders including Mastercard’s Chief Innovation Officer, and crafting internal communications to support the innovation story-telling program.


Work in collaboration with the Senior Vice President, Communications for P&E and other senior business and marcomm leaders to develop progressive, integrated communications and marketing strategies to advance the company’s mission, and evolve, promote and protect Mastercard’s brand and reputation

  • Drive the development of holistic internal and external communications campaign for Mastercard B2B, enterprise and emerging technology products.
  • Partner with global and regional communications teams to showcase Mastercard’s innovation story across product, technology, services, and marketing
  • Identify industry and market trends to understand key perceptions, motivations and drivers related to payments, technology and security
  • Leverage relationships with key media and industry analysts to support product/service launches and corporate announcements
  • Integrate awards and events strategies into innovation story-telling program to drive further success and ensure collaboration across teams and markets
  • Apply a data-led, earned-centric approach to digital content development and executive content
  • Partner across global comms to coordinate and direct sustained internal communications programs.
  • Use measurement tools to assess the impact of communications programs to refine activities


You are a motivated, curious, critical thinker, with an affinity for technology, comfortable debating the potential it has to positively impact individuals, businesses, governments and economies. You are a clear, strategic writer, capable of distilling complex arguments and propositions into accessible and compelling narratives. And you are a passionate PR leader and digital expert motivated by metrics-led success and a true partnership with the business.

  • Excellent written and oral communications skills; strong ability to story mine and collectively present differentiated and complex topics to life
  • Strong relationship management skills and ability to work collaboratively and deliver results with global, multi-cultural and remote project teams
  • Demonstrated track record of high-profile media relationships and placements; technology and lifestyle media relationships desired
  • Creative thinker possessing high level of comfort with fast-paced, dynamic work environment
  • Digital and social media experience and interest; led editorial and/or marketing campaigns, social and influencer campaigns, and technology showcases
  • Proactive with a strong ability to prioritize, multi-task and manage to deadlines
  • Comfortable presenting complex issues to internal and external audiences
  • Solid understanding of balancing and prioritizing needs of multiple stakeholders
