The Manager, Internal Communications will write and edit relevant, engaging copy with a focus on strategy, employee engagement, talent initiatives, company news and events, and other topics relevant to our employees.  The role will interact closely with the leadership team of SE2 and will collaborate with others in Human Resources and Marketing to develop assets and execute campaigns to engage our employees company-wide and to build the SE2 employee brand. The Manager, Internal Communications will work to ensure consistency of messaging and ensure associates are informed and engaged ambassadors of SE2. Position location is flexible and needs to be based within access to either the Topeka HO or Dallas.  This role is eligible for a Flexible Work Arrangement.  The role will report into the Chief Marketing and Communications Officer of SE2. 

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Develop and drive communications plan that engages and inspires associates around the company’s mission, culture, activities, and milestones
  • Create new, and improve existing, internal communication channels for driving associate engagement and to share strategic information with employees
  • Build an internal communications editorial plan, calendar, and publishing
  • Manage editorial calendar and content on corporate communication channels, balancing input from key internal stakeholders across a range of businesses and geographies
  • Research, write, and edit content pieces/assets including articles, intranet copy, emails, scripts, memos, and other communication collaterals
  • Research, write, and edit content for the internal newsletters
  • Manage deadlines for multiple projects simultaneously and to meet changing demands and adapt to frequently changing priorities
  • Identify measurements for all communications-related materials and routinely analyze communications performance
  • Champion the use of the intranet, collaboration tools and such to ensure associates stay engaged and informed
  • Act as a communications partner for internal groups and help them develop narrative plans that tie multiple communication moments together into broader strategies
  • Collaborate with third-party agencies to develop creative concepts for communication campaigns
  • Understand and translate SE2 brand and style guidelines into a clear, confident, and human voice
  • Translate creative briefs into understandable and compelling content pieces/assets that enhance communication, persuade readers, and distinguish the SE2 brand; factor in internal stakeholder feedback, legal guidelines, and other requirements


  • 7+ years of writing/editing/proofreading experience in corporate communications, change management communications, journalism, publishing, public relations, marketing or related field; writing samples required
  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, English or a related field
  • Conceptual, creative thinker with a passion for writing, story-telling, and the willingness to learn from others
  • Ability to structure and conduct interviews and other fact-finding research efforts as well as to synthesize findings into key messages
  • Experience in building communication plans and roll out strategies is desirable
  • Strong project management and organizational skills
  • Proven ability to meet changing demands and adapt to frequently changing priorities
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Experience in collaborating with senior leaders
  • Proven experience in a corporate environment
  • High attention to detail and accuracy
  • Microsoft Office including Word, PowerPoint, and Excel. HTML and WordPress skills are a plus
  • Passion for storytelling and ability to research, write, and edit content
