Position Summary:

Join NMHC (National Multifamily Housing Council) in our mission to elevate member engagement and advocacy impact. As the PAC Engagement and Operations Assistant, you’ll collaborate on strategies to boost member participation and contributions to our Political Action Committee (PAC), while managing day-to-day PAC operations and supporting our advocacy engagement initiatives.

Expertise:

Your role will encompass routine PAC operations management, including contributions and disbursements, ensuring strict compliance with federal campaign finance laws. Your expertise in advocacy and membership engagement, along with experience in PAC fundraising and knowledge of FEC laws and congressional ethics rules, will be invaluable. Familiarity with legislative and regulatory processes is a plus.

Responsibilities:

Duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Collaborate with the VP of Political Affairs to achieve financial goals set by the Government Affairs and NMHC PAC Committee.
  • Administer the execution of the NMHC PAC Congressional budget, ensuring oversight and compliance.
  • Drive NMHC member knowledge and participation in the PAC at all levels.
  • Create and curate content for PAC communications, including newsletters, resources, and website content, to showcase NMHC PAC advocacy work.
  • Identify and refresh NMHC PAC resources to ensure relevance and impact.
  • Facilitate grassroots and grasstops initiatives as part of NMHC’s advocacy strategy.
  • Manage the PAC disbursement budget, track expenditures, draft correspondence, and maintain fundraising calendars.
  • Generate and manage regular reports from the PAC database.
  • Ensure effective PAC administration, adhering to FEC and IRS guidelines.
  • Oversee the relationship with PAC consultants under the direction of the Vice President of Political Affairs.
  • Respond to requests for materials and information promptly and accurately.
  • Record and deposit PAC receipts, produce thank-you letters, and oversee disbursement of funds.
  • Reconcile monthly bank statements and file federal compliance reports related to the PAC.
  • Assist in planning PAC events and provide support to the Government Affairs & PAC Committee.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • 2-4 years of experience in Political Action Committee and advocacy engagement operations.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively in diverse environments.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
