Job Description

Johnson & Johnson is recruiting for a Manager, Pharmaceuticals, Federal Affairs (one of 2 roles) as part of our Federal Janssen Pharmaceutical team.  The team works to advance our pharmaceutical and biologics portfolio and advancing key public policy, legislative, advocacy and political goals.

•             Join Federal team that delivers Legislative and Administration advocacy strategies to maximize the value of the Janssen Pharmaceutical business and US based industry initiatives.

•             Engage and assist with key US based trade associations including the Pharmaceutical Research and Manufacturers Association (PhRMA), the Biotechnology Innovation Organization (BIO), and other trade associations, coalitions, and life-sciences organizations.

•             Deliver coordinated Federal Government Affairs initiatives that advance the enterprise priorities of Johnson and Johnson.

Strategic Leadership Responsibilities:

•             Develop and share materials for internal and external purposes including slide decks, memos, Congressional bios, hearing summaries etc.

•             Monitor and report on Congressional hearings and legislative activity, support lobbyist advocacy engagement and track Federal Congressional Stakeholder Plan

•             Analyze and leverage consultant materials, tactics, and deliverables

•             Support franchise specific projects for Janssen therapeutic areas and product portfolios

•             Engage and deliver trade association activities including development of committee materials, coordination amongst subgroups and messaging for PhRMA & BIO

•             Coordinate with internal partners to advance Janssen priorities, the GA&P Global Strategic Framework and Enterprise Focus Areas

Qualifications

•             A minimum of 5 years of experience in government, government affairs, healthcare policy and/or public policy arena required.

  • Specific experience in FDA related issues and/or Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) is preferred.

•             Bachelor’s degree is required; with a concentration in healthcare policy, law, political science, communications, or business administration preferred.

•             Knowledge of Federal government policy and legislative process is preferred.

•             Ability to juggle multiple priorities and workstreams is required, as well as attention to detail.
