Manager, Policy & Government Engagement
Electric Hydrogen’s mission is to create an abundant and decarbonized material future. Our outstanding people are our most important asset and will allow us to deliver hydrogen from renewable electrolysis for heavy industry, at prices below fossil fuels.
We are searching for a Policy and Government Engagement Manager responsible for direct policy advocacy, managing relationships with external partners to ensure government support, thought leadership, and engagement with government programs. You will play a vital role in shaping policy proposals and strategies that influence Electric Hydrogen’s efforts.
This position is ideally suited to a detail-oriented, initiative-driven individual who is eager to drive success across relationships with policymakers, government entitles, coalitions, and other groups to enable a smooth go-to-market process.
This position will be based in our office in San Carlos, CA, or Natick, MA. We are also open to remote possibilities.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Analyze, summarize, and communicate policies and standards that impact hydrogen, low carbon fuels, renewable energy; translate information into business implications and opportunities
- Lead hydrogen-related policy stakeholder engagement, including establishing and maintaining relationships with relevant organizations and government entities (Department of Energy, state governments, community workforce organizations, and tribal entities)
- Build coalitions with government groups, trade organizations, and companies with similar interests to advance progress on policy issues
- Represent Electric Hydrogen and our interests in meetings and workshops with government agencies, including leading response writing for government RFIs (Request for Information)
- Support proposal writing process (potentially with external proposal firm and cross-functional internal teams, e.g., Product and Engineering) to win government funding
- Collaborate with Electric Hydrogen’s product team to communicate key policy-related market trends and provide insightful research to inform commercial strategy and product design decisions
- Oversee the selection of and direct the work of government-related consulting firms and lobbyists
- Communicate status updates to stakeholders, both internal and external
- Implement programmatic improvements to work with external partners
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree with experience in policy, law, economics, government affairs, program management, environment, or relevant field
- 5+ years of climate policy experience
- Experience in managing relationships with external firms and/or internal teams
- Exceptional communicator
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Resourcefulness and history of being a team player capable of collaborating with multiple cross-functional teams in a fast-paced working environment
- Experience navigating ambiguity
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Knowledge of hydrogen policy landscape, including knowledge of the United States’s political dynamics and relationships with key stakeholders
- Demonstrated track record of managing partnerships with government and other policy / government affairs focused agencies / coalitions in technology or decarbonization
- Demonstrated record of accomplishment of influencing climate policy decisions
- Experience driving high-stakes engagements with officials, climate coalitions, industry representatives and other key stakeholders
- Experience with managing a proposal writing process to secure government funding, particularly to the Department of Energy
