The Position

Supports the policy team through research, development of advocacy materials and informative slide decks. This position will focus on researching and communicating Novo Nordisks positions on legislation and policy. This position will also support company-wide healthcare reform implementation efforts and miscellaneous Public Affairs issues on an ad hoc basis. Support the Senior Director of policy and the VP of Public Affairs by enhancing collaboration and coordination across Public Affairs functions and developing necessary slides and memos. Role also includes representing the Public Affairs Team in cross-functional committees and meetings.

 

Relationships

Reports to the Senior Director of Policy. Interacts with internal colleagues as appropriate, including cross-functional committees. Interacts with external parties, including consultants working for Novo Nordisk Inc. (NNI), trade associations, vendors and other entities. Interacts with internal colleagues, including those involved in forming NNI’s positions on public policy issues. Position will be based in the Washington, D.C. or Plainsboro, NJ office.

 

Essential Functions

  • Collaborates on the development and execution of communication Novo Nordisks’ policy positions on a wide variety of issues
  • Support Senior Director of policy with various senior level/ET presentations and deliverables
  • Participates in cross-functional work teams to stimulate effective collaboration and ensure progress toward Novo Nordisk policy objectives
  • Represent policy or Public Affairs Teams within Novo Nordisk
  • Drive internal communication streams to increase visibility and integration of policy considerations with business enterprise strategy
  • Develop communication and presentations to provide insights and offer guidance for Public Affairs Team and other internal/external stake holders
  • Represents Public Affairs Team in cross-functional team initiatives relating to Novo Nordisk strategic planning and process improvement
  • Collaborates closely with colleagues in Market Access & Public Affairs and other internal functions to communicate and align
  • Engages in projects such as research and drafting memos and other documents related to public policy and industry issues as assigned
  • Provide creative direction & produce original materials for members of the Public Affairs Teams, including documents, slide decks, and one-pagers – often under tight deadlines

 

Physical Requirements

10% overnight travel required.

 

Qualifications

  • A Bachelor’s degree is required; an advanced degree is preferred; relevant experience may be substituted for degree, when appropriate
  • A minimum of six (6) years of experience in federal or state government, biopharmaceutical industry, healthcare industry, healthcare thinks tank or consulting or other relevant experience preferred
  • Policy environment experience is preferred
  • An understanding of healthcare, pharmaceutical, and biotechnology industry issues is preferred
  • Must have strong written and oral communication skills
  • Must be proficient in power point or other slide deck presentation development
  • Must have the ability to work under tight deadlines, with little or no supervision required
  • Must be results-focused with a prior track record of success
