Position Summary

Serve as liaison between the NAB and the 50 State Broadcast Associations and assists when needed with logistics concerning the NAB Board of Directors and international organizations/associations.

 

Specific Duties and Responsibilities

Organize and execute all aspects of the annual State Leadership Conference (SLC) and manages all NAB Board of Directors activities as it relates to the annual NAB Show and annual Radio Show.

Execute grassroots efforts and coordinates the department’s participation in organization events, conventions/trade shows and Capitol Hill visits involving board members.

Organize and conduct successful advocacy efforts in conjunction with the NAB Government Relations Department and the 50 state broadcast associations.

Prepare annual budget and tracks expenditures works with the SVP and Finance.

Maintain superior relations with state broadcast association executives.

Attend state broadcast association conventions as needed.

Other duties as assigned.

Internal / External Relations

Internal Relations: Work with every department within NAB – especially the government relations and legal departments – to ensure successful grassroots advocacy efforts.

External Relations: Develop and maintain a close working relationship with state broadcast association executives as well as any NAB members who may contact the department.

 

Requirements:

4-year degree required, Political Science, Communications, Journalism, International Relations or related degree preferred

Stong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills

2 – 5 years’ experience

Experience with, or at least a working knowledge of, state associations, and understand the advantages of effective grassroots communications and coordination.

Advanced working knowledge of social media platforms.

Strong writing skills

Legislative or government affairs and conference planning experience is a plus.

Knowledge of the broadcast industry would be helpful, but not required.

Proven adaptability to differing cultural and business environments and Multilingual a plus.

Grassroots experience a plus

Ability to travel 5% throughout the year
