The Manufacturing Institute (MI) is seeking a Manager, Women’s Engagement. As Manager, Women’s Engagement, you’ll be joining a team of entrepreneurial problem-solvers designing programs and creating partnerships to attract and retain the manufacturing workforce of tomorrow. The Manager is responsible for supporting the development, growth and maintenance of the Manufacturing Institute’s women’s engagement programming. A successful candidate will bring passion and ideas to solving our workforce challenges while also being focused on executing tasks and ensuring program deliverables and goals are met. The Manager of Women’s Engagement will be part of the Women MAKE America team within the larger MI.

Join the MI and Make an Impact in the Following Ways:
- Work with the Director, Women’s Engagement to plan and execute the Women MAKE Awards, a national, annual program that recognizes women working in the manufacturing industry who exemplify leadership within their companies and communities. The Manager will support the development of the leadership program (attended by the 130 awardees) and the gala (attended by 700+ individuals representing manufacturing companies of all sizes). Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
- Developing and executing the promotional plan to encourage companies within the industry to nominate women colleagues and employees for the award;
- Coordinating the review process among the 1,300 eligible women who could serve as judges;
- Overseeing the execution of communications-related awards materials, outreach content and event communications;
- Acting as a liaison between the sponsorship, conference operations and communications teams, among others, to ensure event components stay on deadline and within budget;
- Serving as the primary point of contact for the onsite execution of the two-day leadership conference, as well as supporting the execution of the evening gala.
- Support the Director in the advancement of the 35×30 campaign, a nationwide effort to raise the representation of women in the industry from 29% to 35% by 2030. This includes:
- Supporting the day-to-day execution of the Women MAKE Mentorship Program, in partnership with the Manager of Diversity and Inclusion, including the promotion of the mentorship program to women in the manufacturing industry, female students and girls ages 13+; managing specific mentorship programs as part of sponsorship deliverables; conducting following up and assisting mentors/mentees throughout the duration of the program; and other related tasks;
- Identifying and overseeing the development of case studies, best practices, toolkits, research and webinars that support increased company engagement to better recruit and retain women in the manufacturing industry;
- Supporting the development of a scholarship fund to help create a pipeline of female talent.
- Manage engagement with the 1,300awards alumnae through LinkedIn, email communications and more to maintain a strong bench of initiative supporters.
- Support the team with project management in the following areas:
- Research and drafting of new materials, agenda, speaker guides, invitations, thank you notes, reports and other program communications;
- Managing, planning and organizing events with relevant stakeholder groups;
- Develop and manage project plans, project budgets, reporting schedules and formats, and development and delivery of key deliverables.

- 3-5 years related work experience, including experience and interest in:
- Workforce Development
- Supporting young women and girls in STEM
- Prior association experience; preferred
- Foundational experience in Salesforce and Asana; preferred
- Experienced in project management and implementation;
- Proficiency in Word for Windows, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, and familiarity with the ability to learn Web content management applications;
- Must be well organized and self-motivated, with the ability to work well under pressure and able to manage workload to meet deadlines;
- Ability to work in a dynamic, fast-paced environment, perform multiple tasks using various software applications
- Strong editing and proofreading skills; excellent communication and interpersonal skills;
- Excellent writing skills;
- Team oriented and customer service focused with the ability to interact regularly with staff, executives, and other stakeholders;
- Willingness to travel.

And finally, it’s important that you have…
- Good communication and interpersonal skills. Relationships are important!
- At least some experience with and a working knowledge of the Microsoft productivity suite–specifically Word, Excel, PowerPoint; but also, SharePoint, Teams, and Outlook.
- The ability–and importantly, a desire–to learn various web-based applications.
- A team-oriented attitude with a customer service focus. We rise and fall as a team and our work is for others (our “customers”) and often informed through relationships.
