Association for Vascular Access
The Marketing & Communications Manager will provide marketing and communication support for AVA’s membership programs and services, member acquisition and retention campaigns, website updates, member communications, digital publications and AVA-driven thought-leadership/awareness programs.

Essential Job Functions and Personal Attributes:

  1. Digital Strategy
    • Working with the team, create an overall digital content strategy to amplify AVA’s reach, expand our audience, deepen the engagement of our members to improve member retention and increase brand awareness of events, programs and products
    • Create visual stories and videos to be used intermittently on the AVA website and in marketing through social media posts and emails
  2. Social Media
    • Shape and execute the overall social media strategy
    • Serve as the main content manager for all social media accounts; write, edit, gather content from team members and approve all content
    • Collaborate with staff to create content for educational events and assist in managing live social media webinars, podcasts and other events
    • Execute, track, analyze and report on all social media activities
    • Establish benchmarks for social media channel performance, experiment with tactics to improve and track progress through analytics reports
    • Create and place paid ad campaigns on social media to increase AVA’s reach and drive ROI value for industry partners
  3. Email Marketing
    • Create content for announcements of AVA publications, including IQ (Intervascular Quarterly), JAVA, educational events and other products
    • Create an email strategy to increase member loyalty, product sales and event registrations
    • Create an email strategy to reach member prospects from leads generated from guest accounts and other marketing lists
    • Stay abreast of email marketing trends and best practices, ensuring optimal use of current tools and technologies to increase efficiency and expand AVA’s reach using marketing automation tools, A/B testing, social media integration, etc.
  4. Web Maintenance and Optimization
    • Responsible for overall content and quality of the website, including project planning and implementation for related initiatives
    • Collaborate with staff to review content regularly to ensure website is current
    • Research and implement strategies to increase the visibility of the AVA website using SEO
    • Supports execution of paid ad placement on the AVA website 
  1. Analytics
    • Provide performance metrics monthly for the website, IQ, e-blasts, social media campaigns, etc., and provide recommendations for adjustments to improve reach and impact
    • Provide campaign-based, monthly and quarterly reports to CEO/COO on defined benchmarks and metrics

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in communications and/or marketing (equivalent experience may be accepted)
  • High attention to detail and high level of accuracy required
  • Strong business and promotional writing, oral communication and presentation skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft office applications (Word, PowerPoint, Excel and Outlook)
  • Proven ability to learn and effectively operate technology independently
  • Knowledgeable in SEO
  • Experience in managing multiple business social media accounts and utilizing technologies to increase followers and engagement
  • Experience with e-marketing systems (such as Constant Contact)
  • Experience with Photoshop, Illustrator and/or InDesign to edit and/or create branded social media graphics and the ability to advise on and edit video content into social media clips as needed
  • Experience developing web content with web content management systems such as HTML and CSS.
  • Strong organization and project management skills to manage internal and external workflow processes

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of YourMembership (YM) association management software
  • Prior experience working in a virtual environment
  • Prior experience working with a national association or in similar nonprofit environment
