We are seeking an entrepreneurial self-starter who is able to drive media strategy, project execution and media results that keep our clients relevant. You’ll bring strong, established media relationships and always be on the lookout for opportunities that lead to coverage. You’ll transform corporate milestones and data into compelling stories and craft interesting content that goes beyond the press release. You’ll engage with media across all channels on a daily basis.

What You’ll Do

  • Continually seek out and create opportunities to place stories in all types of verticals
  • Develop media strategies for planned campaigns and news events that lead to ongoing, positive media coverage
  • Create great stories from clients’ business developments and develop compelling, media-focused content, including press releases and written pitches
  • Build strong relationships with national, regional and trade media, including writing compelling pitches to journalists
  • Participate in and attend client meetings’
  • Collaborate with teams across multiple disciplines and successfully manage complex, fast-moving and unexpected communications challenges
  • Interact with clients to present strategic recommendations addressing challenges and opportunities, as well as in think-on-your-feet situations

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree, preferably in PR or journalism, with 5-7 years of related experience
  • Experience within a multicultural practice, or a passion for multicultural initiatives
  • Proven experience working with media and a strong portfolio of story placements
  • Book of national media contacts
  • Superior writing and editing skills that can communicate creatively and in an engaging manner
  • Understanding of earned and paid media strategy and experience creating media plans
  • Be proactive and highly motivated; demonstrate the ability and desire to work independently and confidently, but as part of a team
  • Be detail oriented with an ability to focus on the larger picture
  • Provide sound counsel and be comfortable providing editorial and response recommendations to clients
  • Ability to collaborate and communicate effectively with internal and client teams at all levels
