Membership Manager (Business Development)
The Public Affairs Council, a non-partisan organization of over 700 companies and associations, is looking for a membership manager to take the lead in helping us expand our membership. Because we are a non-political group that doesn’t just focus on one industry, we have a huge membership universe – both in the U.S. and around the world.
The membership manager will head up our recruitment efforts, including identifying, developing and tracking membership leads. In addition, he/she will assist in designing strategies for engaging and retaining current members. This work requires creativity, assertiveness, enthusiasm, intelligence, a sales orientation, good relationship-building skills and a genuine interest in public affairs.
The successful candidate will have a track record in business development or fundraising, expertise in membership marketing strategies, well-developed writing and public-speaking skills and be capable of delivering exceptional customer service. Direct experience in public affairs or communications is preferred.
The position will supervise a membership assistant who manages our database, handles invoicing and provides support for membership development/retention activities. The manager will report to the Senior Director of Membership.
