As a lead member of our mobilization team reporting to our Chief Mobilization Officer, our Mobilization Director will play a key role in strengthening an emerging humane technology ecosystem by leveraging CHT’s convening power, trusted network, and framing to strengthen the flows of talent, capital and insight into the ecosystem. This role is for a highly collaborative and impact-driven community-builder and changemaker at heart.


  • Terms: Full-time permanent role with 90 day trial period
  • Level: Mid-senior
  • Compensation: Competitive compensation and generous PTO, medical, dental, and vision insurance, 401K with 4% matching
  • Location: As with all roles at CHT, this role will be mostly remote with regular opportunities for in-person collaboration in the SF Bay Area

Coordinate with strategic partners who are growing the humane technology ecosystem

Share and gather intelligence, research, and best practices with partners including:

  • Nonprofits working to convene and support those building humane products
  • Investors exploring or pursuing investment in humane products, including sources of capital beyond the traditional VC ecosystem
  • Academic institutions training the next generation of technologist leaders
  • Professional associations shaping dialogue on humane technology across sectors
  • Partners and leaders with asymmetric insight on issues of power and equity who are working to advance fundamental systemic change

Collaborate on strategic initiatives that support talent, capital and insight flows

Within 30 days:

  • Integrate with and expand on CHT’s network of trusted partners in the categories listed above through sector mapping and exploratory meetings
  • Explore points of intersection between partner organizations and CHT’s work, including our Your Undivided Attention podcast and online course, Foundations of Humane Technology
  • Identify 2-4 high impact collaborative partnerships that maximally leverage CHT’s unique position to strengthen flows of capital, talent and insight

Within 60 days:

  • Develop formal partnership or coalition agreements to drive impact on key initiatives, hosting small-scale partner convenings as necessary
  • Draft public-facing communications about the current state and future potential of the humane technology ecosystem to drive momentum

Within 90 days:

  • Execute pilot phases of partnership plans, e.g., public investor convenings on humane technology, a virtual showcase and jobs fair for humane technology startups, or a guide for accelerators seeking to integrate humane technology principles
  • If appropriate, represent the emerging humane technology ecosystem at relevant industry conferences with the goal of attracting additional talent and resources

Develop and lead convenings to support a diverse community, gather intelligence, and identify opportunities for impact, including:

  • Podcast Club for CHT’s Your Undivided Attention podcast
  • Convenings around CHT’s online course Foundations of Humane Technology for values-aligned technologists who are driving cultural change within top technology companies, or other key topics on humane technology
  • Co-hosted partner convenings on thematic topics from power and equity to peacebuilding to tech worker activism
  • Additional “Happy Hour” style events and invite-only VIP dinners

Provide ongoing general support for CHT’s Mobilization Program

  • Advance and deepen CHT’s action plan on justice, equity, diversity, and inclusion
  • Maintain a mapping of diverse allies across the humane technology ecosystem
  • Review and evaluate inbound inquiries: Serve as a primary point of contact for values-aligned everyday leaders who are eager to learn more and take action


Ideal candidates will have some combination of the following:

  • 5+ years experience building strategic partnerships that advance organizational objectives with a power and equity lens
  • 5+ years experience in community building, cultural change, and/or advancing new ideas within the technology industry or comparable environments
  • 5+ years experience developing, executing, and hosting public and private events
  • 5+ years experience in program and project management
  • Experience in traditional and/or non-traditional models of financing for social-impact ventures (e.g, VC, impact investing, program investing, philanthropy)
  • Demonstrated experience in CHT mission-aligned work
  • Demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion
  • Strategic thinker, systems thinker
  • Exceptional verbal and written communicator
  • Highly adaptable,​ adjusting effectively to complexity and changing conditions
  • High integrity
