National Community Relations Manager

  • This role will report to the Director of US Community Relations and will play a key role in catalyzing Citi’s societal impact through engagement and partnerships with national organizations headquartered in Washington, DC to enhance our reputation and help fulfil Citi’s regulatory requirements.  This role will serve as an internal advisor and thought partner to Community Relations leaders and staff, which will include leveraging opportunities to partner with municipalities and supporting state and federal government affairs.  This role will be responsible for working closely across Community Investing and Development, Citi Community Capital, and other functions that enable Citi to expand equitable opportunities for all.Key Responsibilities
  • Cultivate, establish and maintain strong partnerships with internal lines of business leaders, Global Public Affairs leaders and external NGOs/foundations/community advocates
  • Collaborate with the US Business Partnerships on local issue and stakeholder management and disseminate information on emerging national trends and issues
  • Coordinate the preparation of briefing materials and presentations for internal business reviews and external senior management speaking engagement
  • In coordination with Impact and Insights team, identify opportunities to highlight Citi’s societal impact in local communities through local and national initiatives
  • Maintain an understanding of Citi’s business operations, goals and objectives in order to set priorities for civic and community activities
  • Serve as a connector between Community Relations and the Citi Foundation to leverage relationships and refer strong partners aligned to focus, capitalize on employee volunteer opportunities, and support innovative and meaningful programs across the Citi footprint
  • Work closely with Inclusive Finance team to oversee implementation of national programs (e.g. Children’s Savings Accounts) that align to business priorities of financial inclusion and access
  • Demonstrated subject matter expertise in broad issues aligned to Citi priorities (e.g. racial equity, impact investing, philanthropy, municipal engagement, employee engagement, sustainability, affordable housing and small business development)
  • Externally represent Citi at conferences, meetings and public forums

Job Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree preferred
  • 7+ years of experience in high impact data driven social sector, community relations, community development with a Fortune 500 company, preferably at a financial institution; familiarity with CRA a plus
  • Demonstrable experience and relationships with private, nonprofit, and public sector institutions focused on economic inclusion, affordable housing and small business development
  • Stellar relationship management skills, with track record of building and maintaining relationships with municipalities and national organizations, including advocate groups, nonprofit groups and community agencies
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills to engage a diverse range of colleagues, from peers to senior executives
  • Strong consultative and change management orientation when engaging with key stakeholders
