Description

Weyerhaeuser is seeking an experienced professional to join our team as our Weyerhaeuser Political Action Committee (WPAC) coordinator and administrative assistant.  Our ideal candidate has excellent interpersonal skills, is detailed oriented, loves working with a dynamic team, is skilled at juggling priorities, and communicates well.  Someone who is interested in the political process and willing to grow with a team of government relations professionals will succeed in this role.  We will depend on this team member to be responsible, reliable, quick and accurate while sharing a willingness to help on a variety of projects and assignments with a can-do attitude.  Preferred qualifications include experience with PAC operations, political (lobbying) compliance, invoicing and budgetary processes and meeting/event planning.

Weyerhaeuser’s Government Relations team is a small but mighty group of Government Relations Professionals who shape policy and legislation affecting the company at all levels of government. Our team engages with elected officials and stakeholders to advance solutions for key public policy issues. We align Weyerhaeuser’s external policy priorities and objectives to support and strengthen our business objectives.

The position is based at our corporate headquarters office in Seattle, WA and will report to the Director of Government and Federal Affairs while providing support to a geographically diverse Government Relations team and the Corporate Affairs Lead team.

Responsibilities:

  • Work with Federal Affairs Manager to support and manage the company’s PAC
  • Maintain federal and state political compliance for the company
  • Support Government Affairs team and broader Corporate Affairs team with administrative duties

PAC/Compliance Duties

  • Maintain/plan PAC budget and process check requests for campaigns
  • Manage PAC calendar/track fundraisers
  • Prepare quarterly updates for the PAC Board of Directors
  • Assist with companywide presentations and semi-annual newsletter distribution
  • Manage confidential employee data internally and with external vendor
  • Maintain company compliance by submitting state and federal reports monthly, quarterly, and semi-annually
  • Assist with PAC solicitations and other outreach efforts
  • Generate briefing materials on members of congress
  • Coordinate and plan facility tours for congressional members
  • Records management/retention

Administrative Duties

  • Vendor and invoice processing/management
  • HQ specific: manage equipment and office supplies, assist with onboarding new employees, distribute mail for the 6th floor
  • Assist with budget planning/maintenance
  • Assist with calendar management, travel, and prepare expense reports
  • Assist with planning onsite and offsite meetings (ie: booking facilities, catering)
  • Maintain team distribution lists and manage SharePoint documents/access

 

Qualifications

  • Self-starter with ability to function individually while coordinating with broader team around the country
  • Preferred knowledge of legislative and regulatory process
  • Exercises excellent judgment, poise and discretion

 

Education and experience

  • Four-year bachelor’s degree required in general business, natural resources, communications, political science or related majors
  • 2-5 years’ experience in relevant field
