Zurich is currently seeking to add a Political Affairs Committee (PAC) Director for its Government & Industry Affairs (GAIA) office in Washington, DC.

 

Zurich’s North America Government & Regulatory Relations unit is an integral component of the Group effort to implement Zurich’s strategic and tactical public policy objectives consistently across the enterprise and seeks to anticipate changing trends, define, and prioritize public policy issues and establish Zurich as a thought leader.

 

This is an opportunity to stretch from the traditional PAC role by gaining advocacy experience alongside the PAC. The PAC Director will primarily be responsible for implementing and managing multifaceted PAC campaigns and political resources (including developing and executing a planned strategy by meeting deadlines, oversight of contract employees/vendors, operating an ambassador program, and multi-level cascade solicitation). The Director will also manage the administration of Zurich’s lobbying while other key accountabilities will include:

  • Overseeing day to day operations of the Political Action Committee (PAC) to include, but not limited to, budget, disbursement, compliance, governance, internal and external communications, reporting, vendors, banking, and growth
  • Day-to-day management of all legal and regulatory requirements associated with federal lobbying, PAC disclosures at the state and federal levels and alignment with corporate policy
  • Working with outside consultant and internal stakeholders, oversee Zurich Advocacy’s external social media channels
  • Business Travel, as required
  • Extended Hours during Peak Periods, as required
  • Regular Predictable Attendance
  • Visibility in the Office, as required

 

Additional responsibilities and accountabilities will comprise of:

  • Advancing and supporting the role of the Government & Regulatory Relations team and the important of public policy issues with Zurich’s internal and external constituencies, which includes presentations, written communications, and attendance at select events
  • Developing and executing Zurich’s PAC strategy, planning, fundraising and events
  • Developing and managing marketing strategies and solicitation campaigns throughout the year to build awareness of and support for Zurich’s PAC
  • Developing and coordinating a PAC newsletter, updating on PAC activities and opportunities
  • Developing and maintaining relationships with key political fundraisers
  • Overseeing day-to-day operations of PAC (donor database, budget, disbursement, compliance, governance, communications, reporting, vendors, banking, fundraising, growth, solicitation campaigns, correspondence, records, internal processes, political events calendar etc.)
  • Collaborating with internal and outside counsel to ensure compliance with all federal and state rules, guidelines, and laws, keeping apprised of developments in political and election law
  • Contributing to strategic development of legislative advocacy campaigns including execution of grassroots/grasstops efforts
  • Develop and oversee the continued growth of Zurich Advocacy social media channels
  • Modeling behaviors that demonstrate commitment to corporate values
  • Providing input into performance management discussions of project team members
  • Coaching and providing technical advice and counsel within and outside operating unit
  • Providing guidance and support for team members
  • Taking action to manage your own personal development and encourage others to do the same
  • Undertaking project planning, coordination, and integration of activities

 

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelors Degree in Law or Political Science and 6 or more years of experience in the Advocacy or Political or Public Policy area
    OR
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent and 8 or more years of experience in the Advocacy or Political or Public Policy area
    AND
  • Experience working in government or political operation and/or corporate government affairs

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience conducting PAC fundraising solicitations involving multiple executive level communications, operating a PAC ambassador program, creating new and engaging content
  • Knowledge of federal, state, and local election laws and requirements
  • Knowledge of Lobby Disclosure Act reporting requirements & House and Senate ethics rules (HLOGA)
  • Knowledge of Federal Election Commission campaign finance laws/guidelines and best practices
  • Impeccable communication skills, verbal and written, to confidently and comfortably communicate concisely and precisely with internal and external stakeholders
  • Experience successfully encouraging and growing PAC participation including planning political events
  • Experience working in government or political operation and/or corporate government affairs
  • Experience organizing candidate fundraising events
  • Ability for occasional travel ability to work early mornings and evenings
  • Demonstrated research, data collection, and analytical skills
  • Proficient using PAC compliance software systems
