Position Summary

This position is responsible for supporting development and coordination of policy advocated by the Financial Services Forum (the “Forum”).  The policy analyst provides information and expertise on issues that relate to traditional bank regulatory policy as well as emerging areas expected to grow in importance over the coming years, such as climate (e.g., capital adequacy, disclosure), digital assets (e.g., crypto, CBDC), and artificial intelligence.  The policy analyst will also address legislative policy issues that may not have an immediate regulatory implication, such as tax policy.   The role also collaborates closely with the Forum’s government affairs and communications functions.

Essential Job Functions

  • Engage directly with members on key policy priorities to establish a group position and organize advocacy efforts
  • Analyze policy proposals to identify the relevant aspects of policies that are of greatest importance to Forum members
  • Identify emerging policy issues that should be of interest to Forum members and raise awareness among Forum staff and members as to their importance
  • Engage with regulator staff and other relevant stakeholders to improve our understanding of specific policies and form relationships with these parties
  • Engage directly with Forum members to understand their views on specific policy issues
  • Collaborate with other trade associations on joint advocacy efforts
  • Write summaries and analyses of policy proposals to be circulated with Forum members to provide explanations and analysis to members
  • Write summaries and analyses of policy proposals to be circulated to outside stakeholders (e.g., Congressional staff, media) that shed light on issues that are of importance to Forum members
  • Contribute to the Forum’s public messaging on key policy issues through writing blog posts and related efforts
  • Develop proposals as part of the Forum advocacy process in response to regulatory and legislative proposals
  • Other duties as assigned

Supervisory Responsibilities

This position is not responsible for the management of other staff.

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university
  • Three years of experience with large bank policy analysis, either legislative or regulatory
  • Experience at a regulatory agency, in another relevant government role or at a large bank

Work Environment

This position is based out of the Forum’s office in Washington, DC, and operates in a professional office environment. Occasional out-of-town travel may be required.
