Position Summary:
We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Policy Analyst.

In this role, the successful candidate will support the Department’s efforts in City and Community Affairs, and to support the Director of City Affairs and Public Policy. The staff person will represent NYU Langone Health to government officials, as well as to governmental agencies, community boards, associations and community groups. The Director of City Affairs and Public Policy will advocate for NYU Langone Health’s approved institutional objectives and will assist in enhancing a positive reputation in the community and government arenas.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Represent NYU Langone Health positively to New York City government officials, as well as to governmental agencies, City Council, Borough Presidents, community boards and associations.
  • Collect, develop, and write content including charts, diagrams, etc. for the NYU Langone Health in the Community Report. Work with other internal departments as needed.
  • Advocate for NYU Langone Health’s approved institutional objectives and working to engender a positive reputation in the community and government arenas.
  • Analyze the City budget related to mental health and health and all other applicable budget areas under the supervision of the Director of City Affairs and Public Policy. Review the budget for possible grant and other opportunities.
  • Maintain charts related to City legislation and regulations.
  • Follow policy issues at all levels of government as directed by the Director.
  • Coordinate and schedule appointments with meetings with public officials. Prepare materials for meetings, visits, and follow-up.
  • Draft correspondence for public officials and their staff regarding local and City issues, legislation and regulations of importance to NYU Langone Health.
  • Assess models and trends in comparable hospital community affairs reports and other materials.
  • Research and track trends in Hospital Community Benefit reporting; summarize information into reports for leadership.
  • Follow AHA, AAMC, HANYS, GNYHA, and other trade associations community health and community benefit areas, including calls, meeting, webinars, and published reports. Write notes and summaries for leadership.
  • Work on special projects as assigned by the Director of City Affairs and Public Policy and the Vice President.

Minimum Qualifications:
To qualify you must have a Bachelor’s Degree
Must have strong writing skills.

Preferred Qualifications:
Some experience in government, health policy or community affairs.

Qualified candidates must be able to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization.
