Facebook seeks a Policy Communications Manager to support a wide range of initiatives and programs for the Policy Communications team in Menlo Park. This role will provide cross-functional support for a wide variety of policy and communications issues, including content, privacy and safety. A key part of the role will be handling and responding to media requests, drafting statements and responses, and providing background information to help reporters understand Facebook’s policies and features.

This is a role with far-reaching impact, handling some of the biggest policy challenges Facebook faces today. It demands experience in fast-moving situations, an awareness of political and policy issues, a deep understanding of the news business, and above all, mental agility.

This position will be based in Menlo Park, CA, San Francisco, CA or Washington DC.

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Help create and execute communications strategies to inform top-tier media, policy makers and third-parties groups around the world about key Facebook initiatives involving civic engagement and elections integrity.
  • Work cross-functionally with our product, policy, legal, and partnership teams to build, understand and communicate corporate and product policies that promote and protect our reputation.
  • Cultivate relationships with key media and influencers.
  • Support development of proactive communications campaigns to educate new and existing users on Facebook’s approach to helping protect election integrity across the globe.
  • Work collaboratively with regional Facebook teams in Europe, Asia-Pacific, Latin America and South America.
  • Manage in-bound press inquiries on a range of issues.
  • Develop and pitch stories.
  • Draft and edit talking points, messaging and other external materials such as blog posts and video scripts.
  • Support product launches, policy advocacy, and other announcements.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • 6+ years of experience working in communications
  • Experience in policy communications, public affairs, crisis communications or issues management
  • Experience creating messaging materials, and working collaboratively to develop materials with cross-functional groups, including legal, policy, and consumer marketing
  • Experience working with press outlets and external stakeholders
  • Experience helping build outreach programs and managing stakeholder relations at a national or international level
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Experience managing international issues
  • Experience working internationally
  • Experience working with or for global organization
  • Experience working with or for governments, NGOs, or other public policy entities
  • Experience managing diverse cross-functional stakeholder relations in fast-paced and ambiguous environments
