Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience
  • Experience developing and executing communications and marketing plans
  • 2 years of experience working in politics and/or policy

Preferred qualifications:

  • Experience in the public sector, public affairs marketing, and/or political/advocacy campaigns
  • Ability to manage internal and external relationships and collaborate with cross-functional teams to reach consensus, drive alignment, and execute to achieve business goals
  • Ability to develop strategies, communications plans, creative campaigns, media plans, and customer and market insights, and analyze campaign effectiveness
  • Familiarity with campaign tactics (e.g., rapid response, message generation/testing, list-building, and social/online mobilization)
  • Excellent problem-solving and written/verbal communication skills
  • Passion for policy and technology

About the job

Whether you’re on a consumer product (like Gmail, Search, Maps, Chrome, Android) or a business product (Google Ads, AdSense, Google Marketing Platform, Analytics), you take part in a complete marketing experience as you lead every facet of the product’s journey. From determining positioning, naming, competitive analysis, feature prioritization and external communications, you help shape the voice of the product and help it grow a consumer base. This means you work with a cross-functional team across Sales, corporate communications, legal, webmasters, product development, engineering and more. In this role, you’ll be involved with product marketing strategy from beginning to end.

As a Policy Marketing Associate, you will be responsible for sharing Google’s products, economic impact, and community contributions with US policymakers, creating ongoing and affirmative activities that showcase the best of Google. You’ll help create narratives that explain our position on a range of issues, presenting ideas with data and insights. You will work with a cross-functional team to to build a strategy that increases strategic engagement with policymakers and key groups.

  • Define and execute key influencer and consumer marketing programs that represent our contributions and explain our position on a range of topics.
  • Develop a flexible communications strategy that allows us to respond quickly and share information via social media, owned channels, and more.
  • Create and manage a robust content calendar that guides our work across the US, in partnership with our Product, Public Policy, Partnerships, and Communications teams.
  • Conduct foundational research and message testing to guide our efforts.
