President and Chief Executive Officer

Inter-University Council of Ohio
Columbus, OH

The Inter-University Council of Ohio (IUC) seeks a strategic and respected leader for its next President and Chief Executive Officer. Established in 1939, today the association represents Ohio’s 14 public universities – The University of Akron, Bowling Green State University, Central State University, University of Cincinnati, Cleveland State University, Kent State University, Miami University, Northeast Ohio Medical University (NEOMED), The Ohio State University, Ohio University, Shawnee State University, University of Toledo, Wright State University, and Youngstown State University – with state legislative bodies, the Governor’s Office, and other state agencies.

The IUC’s purpose is to facilitate the development of common interest and concern of its members and to assist in sustaining and improving the quality of public higher education in Ohio. IUC engages in public relations, research and government liaison work to advance the organization’s public policy agenda and articulate its position to policymakers and other stakeholders on identified key issues: Access, Collaboration, Financial Aid, Success, Quality in Higher Education, Accountability in Higher Education, the University System of Ohio, and Tuition Flexibility.

The IUC President manages an office responsible for facilitating collaboration and communication among senior officers of Ohio’s public universities; maintains a comfortable forum that fosters idea exploration and problem solving; facilitates relationship-building and trust among and between president and senior campus leaders; and enables members to achieve together – through collaborations and cooperation – what institutions cannot likely achieve alone. The IUC President and CEO represents and advocates on behalf of the Presidents’ Council, comprising the 14 public university presidents in Ohio, which has identified the following priorities for the next IUC leader: Strategic Advocacy and Communication; Purposeful Agenda Setting; Skilled Relationship-Building; and Effective Organizational Leadership and Financial Acumen.
