Principal (lobbyist) – tax or telecom

Meguire Whitney
Washington, DC

Our boutique lobbying firm seeks a policy professional with roughly 7-10 years of experience handling either tax issues or telecom issues. The successful candidate will manage a portfolio for our clients that includes both these issues plus technology, cybersecurity, transmission, and other issues as assigned. Applicants should have demonstrated experience managing either tax, telecom, or both issues on Capitol Hill and be strong writers capable of independent policy analysis. The job includes direct advocacy on Capitol Hill, advising clients on strategy, liaising with coalitions in DC, and monitoring and reporting on developments on the Hill and at related agencies.

Our Team

Meguire Whitney is a small but mighty team of three lobbyists and one associate. Our clients are not-for-profit electric utilities (bonus points for familiarity with public power!) located all across the U.S. We work closely on issues related to energy, climate, natural resources, and cybersecurity. We produce news products, client reports, legislative memos, and other business intelligence based on relevant activity at the White House, Congress, federal agencies, and the courts. When our clients are in town (or doing virtual visits with policymakers), we manage their schedules and prepare them for successful meetings.

Benefits and Compensation

This position is remote for the time being and includes four weeks of paid time off in the first year, including Fridays in August and the last week of December. We offer unlimited PTO after the first year and student loan repayment after two years (some restrictions apply). We have a generous health plan and match up to 5% of salary in 401(k) contributions.
