Principal Regulatory Affairs and Product Stewardship Consultant (Mid-Senior Level)

ERM is seeking an experienced Principal Regulatory Affairs and Product Stewardship Consultant with significant regulatory expertise to play a key role in growing our Product Stewardship and Regulatory Affairs service area to support the crop protection industry across North America and globally. The successful candidate will provide expert support to ERM clients in all aspects of regulatory strategy and sustainability, portfolio management, risk/benefit analysis, and a comprehensive range of product registration services, across multiple industries; however, the primary focus of their work will be in the crop protection industry. In this role, you will consult on and help to sell product stewardship and regulatory affairs services to build a sustainable practice as part of our global Product Stewardship Regulatory Affairs Community.
As a senior leader, you will be fully accountable for successfully selling and consulting on a range of environmental projects to build a sustainable book of business, while networking with ERM’s global technical teams to share best practices.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Serve as a key member of the core technical team to deliver registration services specifically related to pesticides, biocides, biocontrol agents, and biofertilizers under the Federal Insecticide, Rodenticide, and Fungicide Act (FIFRA) and other regulatory programs (e.g. USDA, and State Departments of Agriculture).
- Develop and manage strategic programs for a variety of agricultural and chemical clients with complex technical/regulatory issues. Design and direct large programs/projects and multi-person project teams. Deliver on client’s expectations for scope, budget, schedule, and quality.
- Contribute to new product regulatory services including, identifying and developing new opportunities, preparing effective technical proposals, and managing client relationships.
- Implement strategic business/action plans, provide leadership, and deliver profitable results to expand ERM’s Product Stewardship, Regulatory, and Sustainability goals across North America.
- Lead, manage performance, as well as inspire and mentor junior staff for overall success of the technical team.
- Develop a working understanding of ERM’s consulting service areas and actively support cross-selling these services to existing clients. Support the general growth and development of ERM’s international service area within your designated field. Coordinate with ERM offices in the Americas, Asia-Pacific, and European regions.
REQUIREMENTS:
- BSc/MSc/PhD in biology, environmental science, natural resources, chemistry, or related degree.
- 10+ year’s relevant industry or consulting experience in the registration, renewal, and label expansion for crop protection products, technologies, and fertilizers.
- Proven track record in developing and implementing successful business growth strategies.
- Recognized technical expertise in your field with an established reputation in industry bodies and/or professional societies (e.g. CLI/CLA, SETAC, ACS, BPIA, etc.).
- Proficiency with multiple regulatory frameworks including, but not limited to, FIFRA, TSCA, PMRA, CFIA, ESA, USFWS, USDA, FDA, OMRI, AAPCO, is required.
- Proficiency with regulatory tools such as ChemWatch, NPIRS, PPLS, EPA databases, CDX/IUCLID, is highly desirable.
- Familiarity with EU’s Plant Protection Products Directive (91/414/EEC) & Regulation (EC) No 1107/2009 and other regulatory legislation from major countries around the world (e.g. Brazil & Latin America, China etc.) is also very desirable.
