The Network Science Initiative (NSI) is Washington’s premier public policy stakeholder research service. Our team of analysts partners with corporations, associations, and non-profits to research specific policy proposals, identify top influencers, and assess their connectivity on public policy issues. Our newest research offering, the PAC Vetting Service, helps our clients ensure that their Political Action Committees (PACs) only give to candidates that align with their organizational values. We do this by conducting rigorous, objective, apolitical research and analysis on how elected officials and political candidates engage on a range of controversial issues, from personal conduct and ethics to diversity and inclusion to support for democratic norms.

We are looking for a Project Manager to help lead our team of research associates producing insights and analysis on how political candidates engage on the critical issues listed above.

Position in Brief:

The Project Manager will be responsible for leading a team of associates in conducting research on hundreds of candidates, providing editorial oversight to ensure our research meets the highest professional standards, customizing the client engagement experience, and developing systems and processes to keep our work updated.

The Project Manager will work closely with senior leaders in National Journal in further developing and overseeing the service, developing new approaches to improve the work product and creating new concepts to serve client needs.

Attributes Particular to this Position:

  • A highly analytic, natural problem solver
  • The ability to highlight key insights within a complex set of data, synthesize large amounts of information, and then clearly explain these insights to potential clients
  • Exceptional attention to detail
  • An interest in intellectually rigorous work focused on the business of Washington government affairs offices
  • A strong sense of fairness and empathy, able to express morally complex issues as fairly and objectively as possible
  • A skilled project manager, able to independently manage competing priorities and adhere to timelines
  • A strong operational mind, able to think through how small changes can ripple across the research practice and work product
  • An individual with 2-4 years of experience in at least one of the following domains: policy analysis, data science, political science, legislative or executive agency policymaking, political research, or government affairs consulting
