Capital Results is looking for an experienced Public Affairs Manager. The position will oversee multiple accounts, develop and manage public affairs programs, pitch national, regional and local media outlets, develop press materials, create issue advocacy materials, and manage social media channels including developing content for clients. Candidates should have significant experience in communications involving government, politics or business, with preference shown to candidates with Virginia political or media experience.

Position responsibilities include:

  • Develop and execute comprehensive public affairs programs
  • Use of qualitative and quantitative research to develop effective messaging
  • Write press releases, media pitches, issue-specific briefs, legislative backgrounders, fact sheets and other collateral
  • Utilize and leverage social media
  • Compile and maintain media lists and monitor and report on media coverage
  • Communicate directly with clients to provide ongoing strategic counsel
  • Maintain relationships with media, including public policy media, and familiarity with digital media outlets

Specific requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree, preferably in political science, public relations/communications or a related field
  • At least 3 years of public affairs experience in politics, government or business
  • Advanced writing skills with high proficiency in editing and composition
  • Ability to develop and produce presentations
  • Ability to manage vendors
  • Proficiency with online medium, including social media
  • Experience with direct client relations/communications
