Job Title:  Public Affairs & Marketing – Senior Writer, Director/Vice President

Job Description:

Blackstone is seeking a detail-oriented, entrepreneurial Writer/ Editor to join our Public Affairs & Marketing team.  The Public Affairs and Marketing teams at Blackstone oversee a dynamic communications and marketing strategy focused on strengthening the Blackstone brand and supporting our business groups. The team is responsible for the firm’s external messaging and reputation, social media presence, communications to and amongst our employees, and managing all aspects of the firm’s brand. The group works across each of Blackstone’s business units and corporate functions, and is responsible for drafting or editing all external-facing content and broadly distributed internal content.  The subject matter and content that this position will manage will vary widely on a day to day basis.

Specific responsibilities include:

  • Draft written materials for distribution via internal and external Blackstone channels, and on behalf of firm leadership.  This includes, but is not limited to, op-eds, speeches (long and short form), talking points, white papers, online and digital media content, and internal communications.

  • Serve as a highly detail-focused copy editor for all external-facing, and some internal-facing, Blackstone content.  Must have the ability to edit for style, substance, and grammar.

  • Partner with the Public Affairs and Marketing teams to craft messaging around key initiatives and announcements.

  • Work with the Communications and Marketing teams to help ensure consistency of writing style and output.

Qualifications:

Blackstone seeks to hire individuals who work well in a dynamic, team-driven working group, are highly motivated, intelligent, have sound judgment and have demonstrated excellence in prior endeavors.

The successful candidate must have:

  • 5+ years of experience as a writer.

  • Demonstrated experience translating complex concepts in clearly written prose—previous work in finance and with alternative investment themes a clear plus.

  • In addition to being an excellent writer and story-teller, candidate should be able to simplify a wide range of topics for a broad range of audiences.

  • An ability to thrive in high pressure situations with tight deadlines.

  • Extremely organized and detail-focused, with an ability to execute quickly and juggle multiple projects at once.

  • Highly focused on quality control and consistency of voice.

  • Experience with copyediting.

  • Fluency with financial terms and language is a plus, but not required.
