GENERAL DESCRIPTION: The selected individual will provide strategic and operational support in the area of public affairs and outreach to PVA, and its’ public and key influencers. The position will be responsible for delivering greater exposure for the organization’s mission to internal and external target audiences through all communications vehicles, including but limited to earned and placed media, social media, digital platforms and grassroots outreach.

REQUIREMENTS: A bachelor’s degree in a communications-related field required; graduate degree in a comparable field preferred. Minimum of 7 years of progressively responsible and successful experience in public affairs positions, with demonstrated results in garnering national media attention and safeguarding corporate branding. The selected candidate will also have knowledge of corporate communications and public relations within a nonprofit communications industry. In addition the selected candidate should have previous professional experience utilizing public affairs strategies within social media and online platforms and experience working within a nonprofit organization and promoting the organization nationally.The ideal candidate will have strong organization and time management skills that enable the employee to prioritize and manage a high volume of detailed work with conflicting priorities in a fast-paced environment, excellent written and verbal communication skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office (PowerPoint, Word, and Excel) and online communications tools (WordPress, Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, YouTube, etc.). The candidate must be able to travel (up to 70%) per calendar year for annual events and special projects.
