Job Title: Public Affairs Specialist (Senior)

Location(s): Westminster, CO

Hiring Range:  $50 – $80k. (Depending on education, experience, and location) 

Status: Full-Time – Exempt

Job Description:

RSI EnTech, LLC is recruiting for Senior Public Affairs Specialist.  The selected candidate will provide ongoing assistance in community outreach activities that support the U.S. Department of Energy’s Office of Legacy Management (DOE LM) mission, cultivate relationships within stakeholder communities, create content that informs different audiences about LM activities, and report on outcomes.

Clearance and Health Regiments:

  • Criminal Background Check
  • Pre-placement Drug Screening
  • COVID 19 Vaccination or legally supported exemption
  • Fit for Duty Test (if applicable)

Primary responsibilities and essential functions:

  • Planning, coordinating, and implementing programs and activities that inform and engage the public, industry, and all levels of government about DOE’s activities.
  • Creating strategic communications and community involvement plans, including identification of and targeted outreach to priority audiences, key issues, and recommended messages and communications delivery methods
  • Writing and preparing presentations, talking points, backgrounders, fact sheets, press releases, news stories, technical reports, outreach publications, brochures, digital content and other printed and electronic materials intended for distribution to the public or news media
  • Developing, implementing, and facilitating meetings and events that inform stakeholders about LM’s work, mission, and priorities
  • Plan, coordinate logistics, and produce support for public meetings, tours, open houses, and special events 
  • Gathering on stakeholder input via as face-to-face conversations, event surveys, and email input and sharing results 
  • Participating in local community events (e.g. cultural activities, STEM gatherings, etc.).

 

Work experience required:

Ten or more years of public relations or related experience.

 

Technical knowledge, certifications/licenses and software proficiency required:

  • Experience with Microsoft Office

  • Ability to distill complex technical information into understandable and engaging content

 

Desirable qualifications, experience, or proficiencies of the ideal candidate:

  • Previous client-relations experience 
  • Skilled implementer with strong writing and editing skills highly preferred 
  • Media relations experience 
  • Experience communicating technical and/or scientific information to non-technical and or non-scientific audiences
  • Ability to distill complex technical information into understandable and engaging content
  • Experience engaging with stakeholders via social media and other digital platforms
  • Demonstrated ability to quantify communications results and outcomes
  • Creating brand journalism content
  • Familiarity with the U.S. Department of Energy 
  • Familiarity working as a contractor for the U.S. government
  • Familiarity with radioactive and chemical waste, environmental contamination, hazardous material and the associated long-term surveillance and maintenance, records management, work force restructuring and benefits continuity, property management, land use planning, and community assistance

 

Required Education:

Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, or related field.

 

Working Conditions and Physical Requirements: 

The employee must remain is a stationary position 50% of the time. This position needs to occasionally move about inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, etc. Constantly operates a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as a calculator, copy machine, and computer printer. The person in this position frequently communicates with others who have inquiries. Must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations.  Constantly works inside an office environment. Frequently moves documents and objects weighing up to 10 pounds.  Must be able to observe and learn technical material and emails.
