Position Summary

The Public Health Program Manager will be responsible for providing high-level administrative support and performing administrative duties that sets and manages the overall schedule and budget for assigned programs and maintains responsibility for overall success of projects that support overall growth of the organization and contributes to strategic priorities. The Public Health Program Manager will work closely with the Director of Research and Public Health Programs in providing/coordinating support activities for NCUIH’s Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and other public health funded project activities. The Public Health Program Manager will help increase the organization’s capacity to advance programs, provide research and technical assistance and develop systems approaches that will help improve Urban Indian public health and promote health equity at the national level.

The Public Health Program Manager’s tasks also involve assisting in the design, management, evaluation and supervision of projects implemented by NCUIH. The successful candidate will work closely with department Directors to identify and achieve grant deliverable goals with their team and other NCUIH workgroups. The ideal candidate for this role should have experience in federal government funding initiatives, superior organizational skills, great leadership qualities, and exceptional budgeting and monitoring skills. The ideal candidate should be tech savvy, outgoing, able to efficiently multi-task across multiple professional communications platforms and enjoy working in a small but rapidly growing mission-driven office environment.

Duties and Responsibilities
Include, but are not limited to the following:
Providing high-level administrative support and performing administrative duties that sets and manages the overall schedule and budget for assigned programs and maintains responsibility for overall success of projects that support overall growth of the organization and contributes to strategic priorities.
Providing/coordinating support activities for NCUIH’s Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) & other public health funded project activities.
Assist in the design, management, evaluation and supervision of projects implemented by NCUIH.
Manages multiple projects concurrently and also supervises a growing team in accordance with NCUIH expectations, policies, and procedures.
Monitor that goals are met in terms of programmatic deliverables and implement and manage changes and interventions to ensure project goals are achieved.
Develops grants, budgets, and prepares grant reports with supporting documentation in collaboration with grants compliance and program staff to ensure grants compliance.
Works with senior management to sustain existing work and identify funding opportunities; writes and reviews grant applications and other funding opportunities.
Analyze program risks.
Review final version of fact sheets, issues briefs, reports and other documents prior to completion/submission.
Ensures coordination of related activities across NCUIH programmatic teams / staff (research, technical assistance, policy, finance, human resources).
Meet with program staff to make communication easy and transparent regarding project issues and decisions on programs and services.
Provide regular updates to senior leadership and report grant activity to the Board of Directors.
Works with federal, national, regional, UIO, and other representatives to identify and disseminate promising practices in public health and health are workforce practices.
Fosters collaborative relationships with federal agencies, partners, UIOs and other stakeholders.
Provides leadership and supervision of assigned staff to maintain and support progress of deliverables and awareness of improvement areas.
Other duties as assigned.

Requirements and Qualifications:
Master’s degree in Public Health, Health Administration, Health Science, Public Policy, Public Administration or similar field.
Professional experience working with American Indian and Alaska Native populations is strongly preferred.
A minimum of 3 years experience in public health programming, and/or research and evaluation;
Supervisory experience is strongly preferred.
Experience managing CDC grants strongly preferred.
Experience in health and public health policy development and analysis, combined with knowledge about public health program implementation, national health care agendas, issues, impacts, and trends, as they relate to American Indians and Alaska Natives;
Must possess polished verbal and written communication skills and telephone etiquette.
Extremely strong organizational skills, attention to detail and ability to manage many tasks simultaneously completing tasks on time and under budget.
Excellent follow-up and follow-through skills.
Pro-active, collaborative, flexible and creative work style to solve problems.
Must be highly proficient in Microsoft Windows Operating Systems.
Experience with Project Management software a plus.
Must be highly proficient in written communication for document composition and proofreading purposes—familiarity with Chicago and APA writing styles and guidelines is desirable.
Ability to work with diverse groups of people.
Ability to lead multi-disciplinary teams and innovate.

Pay Range: $65,000 – $70,000 per year
