Public Policy Associate, Content Policy

Washington, DC

Facebook’s mission is to give people the power to build community and bring the world closer together. Through our family of apps and services, we’re building a different kind of company that connects billions of people around the world, gives them ways to share what matters most to them, and helps bring people closer together. Whether we’re creating new products or helping a small business expand its reach, people at Facebook are builders at heart. Our global teams are constantly iterating, solving problems, and working together to empower people around the world to build community and connect in meaningful ways. Together, we can help people build stronger communities — we’re just getting started.

Facebook is looking for an analytical thinker with experience in policy, law, business operations, or government to join our Content Policy team. The Content Policy team’s mission is to create and communicate rules for how our products may be used by people on Facebook and its family of applications.

This member of the Content policy team will focus on the Oversight Board, which will review some of the most challenging content decisions at Facebook. Policy responsibilities related to the board will include reviewing content policies prior to the board becoming operational, developing a policy rationale for cases sent to the board, supporting responses to policy inquiries from the board, and managing the policy team’s actions following content-based policy recommendations from the board.

The candidate will also play a key role in developing, applying, and communicating our Community Standards both internally and externally. They will manage high-profile content escalations and will be expected to make difficult decisions about whether to allow or remove content.

Successful candidates will be able to critically analyze and communicate the costs and benefits of refinements to policies and understand the values and rationale that underpin Facebook’s Community Standards. Candidates should be passionate about the services we provide and the people we serve.
