We’re looking for a Public Policy Manager to join Snap Inc! As a member of the Legal team, you will focus on policy and government relations issues for the greater Los Angeles area. Working from our Los Angeles Headquarters, you will work closely with the rest of the Policy team, as well as Legal, Communications, Philanthropy, Real Estate, Finance, and other teams to effectively scope, plan, and execute on Snap’s local policy needs.

What you’ll do:

  • Serve as the main point of contact in Los Angeles for all local Snap policy matters.

  • Monitor and engage on local legislative and regulatory issues of concern.

  • Meet with local officials to educate them about Snap’s business, public policy priorities and government y engagement efforts.

  • Drive Snap’s participation with local associations, coalitions, Chambers of Commerce and government events.

  • Advise the Policy team on local policymaker priorities, and identify local initiatives and opportunities for Snap to further engage with the community.

  • Work cross-functionally with teams to develop Snap’s broader public policy and community agenda for Southern California.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: 

  • Deep knowledge of the policy and political landscape in the greater Los Angeles area.

  • Strong ethical judgment and decision-making skills.

  • Outstanding verbal and written communication skills, with an ability to be comfortable with public speaking

  • Ability to work independently, proactively and cross-functionally.

  • Kindness, creativity, intelligence and an instinctual appreciation for being ‘a good neighbor’.

  • Knowledge of and passion for Snapchat and its mission.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Public Policy, Political Science, Legal Studies or related field; or equivalent years of experience

  • 5+ years advocacy/policy experience or similar field

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 3+ years of experience developing and maintaining relationships with Los Angeles-area local government officials and community leaders.

  • 3+ years of experience working with major public policy issues affecting the technology industry in Southern California, including land use, transportation, housing, taxation, and economic development.
