JOB SUMMARY

The Public Relations & Development Director oversees the public relations and development efforts for Tabor Services, Inc. This includes promoting the organization’s mission, programs, brand, and activities to increase mission awareness and support among stakeholders and donors. The Director will be responsible for overseeing and implementing activities in the areas of public relations, stakeholder engagement, mission marketing, fundraising, donor cultivation and special events. This position is critical to raising the visibility of Tabor’s services for brand recognition and enhancing stakeholder and donor relationships. Hours are from 9 am – 5pm Monday through Friday but may vary according to departmental needs. Regular travel required.

EDUCATION

Master’s degree in the field of nonprofit services, development, fundraising, philanthropy preferred. Will consider a master’s degree in the industry field of study.

EXPERIENCE

3-5 years’ experience in the areas of development, fundraising, philanthropy, or event planning and/or direct industry experience.

SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE & ABILITIES

 Advanced communications skills, including experience writing press releases, reports, articles, annual reports, solicitations, and speeches.

 Solid grasps of data analysis with and performance metrics.

 Advanced business planning and budgeting.

 Ability to write using original or innovative techniques or style and make effective, persuasive presentations on complex topics to individuals, businesses and/or community groups.

 Knowledge and experience managing sensitive and confidential issues is required.

 Knowledge in using Microsoft Word, Publisher, Excel, and Raiser’s Edge. Also requires basic mathematical ability.

CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

Must have a valid driver’s license.

QUALIFICATIONS

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

PR/Development:

 Identifies and cultivates new donor prospects.

 Identifies challenging prospects for Planned Giving opportunities.

 Uses system of direct-mail tracking and donation tracking on database.

 Identifies foundation, city, county, state, federal and corporate grant opportunities, for which the organization qualifies.

 Serve on the Development Committee, guide and create a team approach for implementing fundraising techniques aimed at building and sustaining donors and prospects in a Pyramid of Giving.

 Assist with responding and writing grant requests.

 Directs, cultivates, and leads the solicitation phase of fundraising campaigns.

 Promotes specific agency funds through appeals.

 Promotes undesignated gifts and endowment support.

 Directs the development and implementation of fundraising concepts and projects.

 Directs increase of support for the reoccurring and ongoing events, fundraisers, and support to the Children’s, Sadowski and Annual Fund.

 Prepare regular reports that evaluate fundraising efforts, develop monthly progress reports on implementation status of the work plan and quarterly reports on the development plan.

Data entry/administrative:

 Performs data entry – donor tracking lists and donor database (Raiser’s Edge)

 Prepares timely administration of donor acknowledgement letters and tax receipts

 Performs basic administration functions, as needed.

Special Events:

 Directs and lead with event logistics for agency fundraisers.
