Help implement and manage various public relations programs that advance the firm’s strategic goals and build name recognition in key practice areas, industries, and markets.  Work in collaboration with the firm’s public relations, business development, marketing team colleagues and lawyers.
This position is responsible for:
• Play a lead role in designing and implementing key PR programs, as assigned by the Media & Public Relations Director.
• Coordinate with lawyers and the Business Development team to identify and develop public relations activities that support practice group strategic plans.
• Manage the PR team’s article-placement process for attorney-written byline articles.
• Manage awards/nominations process for individual lawyer awards, firm awards, and practice-specific awards.
• Manage the promotion of diversity and pro bono-related events and awards.
• Build relationships with key reporters and editors at relevant media outlets, and identify opportunities to connect those media contacts to partners of the firm.  Work with lawyers to prepare for interviews.
• Work with lawyers to develop media pitches.  Draft and distribute source advisories.
• Draft and distribute press releases.
• Design and implement a social media strategy to further elevate lawyers, practice areas and the firm brand.
• Manage the firm’s primary social media channels such as Twitter and LinkedIn.
• Maintain awareness of new media technology, techniques, and strategies and integrate them into public relations plans.
• Develop creative strategies to promote firm and practice-group events and webinars.
• Determine and use best communications channels and formats to advance key messages, successes, and brand.
• Supervise the maintenance of editorial calendars and track for opportunities to raise the visibility of lawyers and practice/industry groups.
• Manage the completion of survey submissions.
• Draft and post content for the news section of the firm’s website and intranet.
• Manage special projects and other public relations initiatives.
• Work closely with external public relations consultant and participate in bi-weekly calls to make sure activities meet firm wide objectives and pose no client conflicts or other sensitivities.
• Present professional training/development seminars to lawyers on various topics.
• Perform outreach and follow-up to partners and other firm professionals, interacting with them in a professional and productive manner.
• Handle various administrative functions, such as ordering reprints.
• Other duties as assigned.Minimum Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in English, Journalism, Public Relations or similar discipline preferred.
• 8-10 years of professional experience in public relations / communications position, with increasing responsibilities.
• Legal public relations experience strongly preferred.
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Attention to detail, proofreading, and accuracy are key in this role.
• Knowledge of AP Stylebook preferred.
• Proficient knowledge of Microsoft office programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Internet-based public relations tools.
• Advanced knowledge of social media technologies including Twitter and LinkedIn.
