The Regional Political Manager will be responsible for the development and maintenance of a strong political network of active NFIB Members and donors. This role can be based in DC or a State Capital. This position will help support “on the ground” efforts for NFIB’s political and development programs. Responsibilities include developing and implementing political grassroots activities for NFIB members to significantly impact and strengthen NFIB’s political advocacy efforts to elect pro-small business candidates. They will collaborate with other departments to implement state specific political plans. Work to establish and build relationships with NFIB-endorsed candidates to maximize engagement opportunities for members in assigned states.

Must communicate effectively both verbally and in writing; work outcomes must meet and/or exceed productivity and quality standards. Must be able to function as an integral part of a cohesive team in a fast moving, issues-oriented environment; adhere to Company and Department policies and procedures. Performs other projects as needed.

Minimum Requirements 

  1. Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Political Science, related field; or equivalent.
  2. Five (5) years relevant work experience in grassroots activism or similar position. Experience working for a non-profit, trade association, elected official, and / or on a political campaign preferred.
  3. Knowledge of political grassroots advocacy efforts, trends, fundraising, and the legislative process.
  4. Proficient in Microsoft Office and membership database software.
  5. Ability to represent NFIB at meetings and events. Able to travel approximately 50 nights per year.
  6. Ability to meet deadlines, negotiate conflicts, take initiative, assume project responsibility, and prioritize work under pressure. Must possess flexibility and stress tolerance.
  7. Professional, energetic self-starter. Must possess excellent organizational, interpersonal, and written and verbal communication skills, including public presentation skills.
