This position performs regulatory affairs and compliance activities relatedto US and applicable global foods regulation compliance. Manage foodlabeling for USA plant made products. It also provides support to otheractivities in the Technical Services function as needed. This position isin a fast-paced environment of changing priorities, multiple projects andshort deadlines.


Provide regulatory supports, technical supports for customers, and otherfunctions.

  1. Investigate regulatory compliance for US and applicable globalcountries, including but not limit to facility and productregistration, formulation, ingredients, process, product claims,marketing and advisement claims including but not limit to kosher,organic, non-GMO, etc.
  2. Contact and communicate with regulatory government agencies, tradeorganizations, and consultant parties for compliance including but notlimit to USDA, FDA, CFIA, MX, Mercosur, EU, JPN, KOR, AUS etc, productsand labels registration, etc.
  3. Support the process of creating, reviewing, updating, and approvingproduct labels including but not limit to nutrition labeling, allergenslabeling, product claims.
  4. Provide technical support to meet import and export requirementincluding but not limit to import/export permits, certificates, andNAFTA, etc.
  5. Monitor local, state, federal, and other applicable global regulatoryupdates.
  6. Provide responses to customer’s regulatory and compliance inquires.
  7. Supervise technical inquiry function.
  8. Perform special projects and duties as assigned from management.

Bachelor’s degree from four-year college or university in food science,biology, chemistry, or a related life science field; and a minimum of 5years related regulatory affairs in foods or consumer products ; and/ortraining; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Knowledgeand experience of food safety regulations is required (FDA, FSMA, USDA, CFR(Code of Federal Regulation), CBP, Canadian Food Inspection regulation,FTC, etc). Knowledge of food package and equipments, thermal process, andstrong PC skills are preferred.


Ideal candidate must be able to read and comprehend written and verbalinstructions. Draft memos and correspondence with ability to effectivelypresent information in one-on-one and small group situations to governmentagencies, trade organizations, customers, clients, and other employees ofthe organization.


Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure,using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ideal candidate mustcompute rates, ratios, and percentages and draw and interpret bar graphs.


Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructionsfurnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to read and comprehendequipment manuals and electrical diagrams for set-up control loops.Candidate must be able to deal with problems involving several concretevariables in standardized situations.


Professional certificate holder (National/California Code Certification),preferred.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposedto office environment. The individual occasionally is exposed to allergenicand sensitive materials, such as soy, wheat, milk, sea food, nuts,sulfites, etc.
