PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Coordinates the governmental and regulatory related customer communication in Florida
Establishes and maintains relationships with federal, state and local elected officials
Develops regulatory and governmental relationships with other utility companies, agencies and associations
Participates in the communication of the natural gas advocacy campaign
Responsible for maintaining the governmental/political and community outreach strategy playbook plan and assignments
Responsible for research of regulatory and political environments ahead of business development
Maintains relationship matrix for the state of Florida
Drafts, and monitors energy and regulatory legislation impacting Chesapeake
Provides support for new regulatory initiatives
Attends political activities in our service territories
Drafts and makes presentations on legislative activities
Performs all other duties as assigned by AVP, Regulatory Affairs
SUPERVISION

None

RELATIONSHIPS

Internal: This position works will all levels of the Company. The incumbent acts under the guidance of the AVP, Regulatory Affairs and works closely with Chesapeake’s Business Unit Personnel, Accounting and Business Planning.

External: This position may work with outside vendors such as PSC Staff, Company Regulatory Personnel, legal counsel and political contacts.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education:

Must have four year degree, preferable Political Science, Law, or Business related

Related Experience:

Minimum of ten years of political experience, lobbying, utility and regulatory experience a plus

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

Must be very comfortable with public speaking
Must have a high level of initiative and be able to be self-directed
Must be able to respond creatively to unique situations
Must have very good written and verbal communication skills
Must have analytical skills
Knowledge in the Microsoft Office suite of software

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Must be able to travel to receive training in relevant fields.
Must be willing to travel within the states of Maryland, Delaware, Florida or other locations as warranted.
Must have a valid Driver’s license and responsible driving record.
