Within our Corporate Legal department, the regulatory and compliance team provides timely and cost-effective legal services of the highest caliber. The Regulatory Specialist is the subject matter expert in regards to legal requirements for obtaining new licenses and permits. Ideal candidates have exceptional writing, listening, and communication skills. They have high levels of analytical and people skills to work productively when faced with challenging work situations and time pressures.

What you’ll do

  • research and become familiar with the legal requirements for obtaining new licenses and permits for Publix main stores, GreenWise Market stores, and liquor stores
  • complete and file license and permit applications with state governmental agencies and local government
  • execute various corporate governance activities for Publix subsidiaries (business entities), including preparing corporate governance documents, maintaining information, and timely and accurately submitting legally required filings

Required Qualifications

  • Associate’s degree in Paralegal/Legal Studies or equivalent work experience
  • at least three years of experience as a paralegal, or equivalent experience applying for retail grocery licenses and permits
  • general knowledge of licensing (e.g., Alcoholic Beverages and Tobacco licenses, food permits, and/or Pharmacy permits, etc.) laws and regulations for grocery retail stores
  • basic knowledge of Microsoft Office applications; Word, Excel, Access and PowerPoint

  • willingness to work extended hours, as needed

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Paralegal/Legal Studies or equivalent work experience
  • four or more years of experience as a paralegal, or equivalent experience applying for retail grocery licenses and permits
  • knowledge of the Publix organization, including subsidiaries and Officer information
  • Certified Paralegal (CP) or Certified Legal Assistant (CLA)

Year End Bonus

To reward associates for their contributions to the company for the calendar year, Publix provides a Holiday Bonus in November. In the first year of continuous employment the bonus is equal to 15 hours of pay, and in the second year of continuous employment the bonus is equal to one week’s pay if associate remains employed through issue date of the bonus check. In subsequent years, the bonus is equal to two weeks’ pay.
