Job Summary and Description:

This position is integral to Washington DC’s entire Government & External Affairs team. The new team member will focus on building and maintaining strong, long-lasting external alliances with key external stakeholders, including Congress, the federal government, industry groups, NGOs, think tanks, and other organizations integral to the Washington policy process. The position requires highly proficient verbal and written communications skills, extensive knowledge of the domestic energy landscape and of the federal policy processes, and the ability to interact with key policymakers to accomplish results. Knowledge of Congress and one or more key federal agencies such as DOE, DOD, EPA, FERC, and/or DOT and how they operate is desirable. The position reports to the Director, Government and External Affairs.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Contribute to the development and execution of EPRI’s federal outreach strategy.
  • Manage external consultants
  • Build, enhance, and maintain relations with key federal legislative staff, key energy/environmental stakeholders, and the federal-focused staff within the national energy-related trade associations.
  • Maintain continuous educational efforts regarding EPRI’s R&D portfolio and identify strategic speaking engagements for EPRI technical staff and executives
  • Promote EPRI’s reputation as an independent source of credible and objective counsel on scientific and technical energy-related matters.
  • Inform G&EA and EPRI leadership of federal policy developments and maintain awareness of important developments and activities throughout the institute.

 

Education and Experience:

  • 5-10 years of experience either within federal/state government or the government relations field.
  • Knowledge about energy and environmental issues, particularly with direct experience in the electric power industry.
  • Bachelor’s degree required or equivalent work experience.

 

Skills and Attributes:

  • Excellent oral and written communications skills
  • Travel required to critical state-based institutional meetings, conferences and to selected internal meetings for professional development purposes.
  • Highly-motivated “self-starter”, who works well across teams.

 

 

 

 

The salary range for this position is $96,985 USD to $131,215 USD annually.

 

 

This salary range is an estimate, and the actual salary may vary based on various factors, including without limitation applicant’s education, experience, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity and alignment with market data. The salary may also be adjusted based on applicant’s geographic location.

 

 

This role is eligible to participate in EPRI’s annual incentive program. The amount of incentive varies and is subject to the terms and conditions of the plan.

 

 

This role is eligible to participate in EPRI’s standard employee benefit programs, which currently include the following: medical, dental, vision, 401k, STD/LTD and paid family leave, life and accident insurance, paid time off (flexible vacation, sick leave, and holiday pay).

 

 

EPRI participates in E-Verify, an online system operated jointly by the Department of Homeland Security and the Social Security Administration (SSA). EPRI uses the system to check the work status of new hires by comparing information from the employee’s I-9 form against SSA and Department of Homeland Security databases.
