Position Overview

As the number of people who receive positive benefit from Pallet’s work grows, so too does the number of stories our team has to tell and the level of strategy we need to tell these stories to the right people, at the right time, in the right place. Pallet’s Senior Content Strategist amplifies these stories by creating a strategic vision for the Pallet brand. This full-time position reports to the Director of Marketing and Communications. The position works in coordination with a variety of internal and external stakeholders to strategize, create and amplify our content.

In the first three months, you will…

  • Understand the Pallet story, voice of Pallet, and shelter village model
  • Travel with the Pallet team to begin to experience our shelter villages
  • Spearhead the development and implementation of Pallet’s content marketing strategy as well as offering strategic support for all Pallet Marketing activities

  • Create and implement a content campaign calendar based on active brand stories, trending industry topics, popular beliefs, broader organizational strategy, and other areas of focus
  • Produce the strategy for best-in-class articles, white papers, blog stories, interviews, social media copy, email marketing messages, case studies, presentation content, web copy, and more, working with the relevant teams to create the content and implement it in market
  • Develop a relationship and work closely with the PR Manager to make sure content strategy aligns across all PR and Promotional materials and activity
  • Develop a relationship and work closely with the Creative Director to make sure content and brand strategy aligns across all externally facing assets, channels, and content

 

After three months you will…

  • Continuously strive to improve content quality with well-researched and interesting content that drives awareness and advocacy for Pallet
  • Maintain existing content, updating where required and managing responses
  • Measure, report, and improve content performance using analytics tools
  • Leverage content marketing as a driver for brand awareness, engagement, and advocacy
  • Investigate, research, and stay up to date on the latest industry trends and data (and anticipate future trends)
  • Internal communication specialist to implement and manage our internal communications strategy working with key areas of the leadership to maintain communication across the organization
  • Adhere to brand guidelines to create consistency, ensuring that all content supports and strengthens Pallet’s brand and personality
  • Champion bold ideas and creative approaches that tell the stories of Pallet and the populations that the brand exists to serve, elevating the voices of people who are experiencing homelessness to inspire and educate

In the future you will have the chance to…

  • Partner closely with Integrated Marketing, PR/Corporate Communications and Product teams to develop content that helps drive engagement, awareness, and excitement for the Pallet brand.
  • Own the content strategy for Pallet Shelter working with your colleagues in marketing to provide a solid foundation for telling the Pallet story.
  • Build a team as needed to support the needs of a growing brand.

 

Requirements

  • At least 5+ years professional experience in content strategy, including agency and/or in-house experience
  • Degree in journalism, marketing, or related area (and or equivalent experience)
  • You’ve produced persuasive, best-in-class content for other social impact or mission-driven organizations
  • Experience with content publishing tools such as WordPress, HubSpot, Squarespace, Adobe Creative Suite, Google Suite, Hootsuite, Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and YouTube
  • You build authentic relationships with people of diverse backgrounds, and can share their stories with dignity and respect
  • Proven track record of successfully building working relationships with teams and individuals with diverse backgrounds
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to be persuasive
  • Editorial mindset that seeks to understand what audiences consume, and how to create it
  • Ability to analyze and interpret industry data, and then form a unique and persuasive narrative based on that data
  • Inherently curious and asks questions to understand
  • Knowledge of SEO and publishing best practices
  • Ability to successfully manage multiple concurrent projects
  • Ability to develop, organize, and maintain process documentation

  • Direct experience with people experiencing homelessness
