About The Job:
CHANEL’s Senior Counsel, R&D and Regulatory Affairs will be an important member of the CHANEL US Legal Department in regards to research & development and regulatory affairs-related matters and initiatives. You will play a key role in all things regulatory, helping the brand prepare for industry changes, litigations and audits.
The team is seeking someone who is highly motivated to take on challenges in a fast-paced environment and who can be an in-house point of contact for R&D and regulatory affairs. Interest in Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) is important, as this person serves as the main legal representative for the US CSR Committee. 6 years of experience, minimum, is required to apply for this role.

Manage, negotiate and execute on a broad range of regulatory, commercial and operational initiatives and strategic priorities.
Be the primary legal contact for federal, state and local regulatory, legislative and advocacy matters pertaining to Chanel products (cosmetic, fashion and watch and fine jewelry) in the U.S.
Review, draft and negotiate R&D-related contracts, including NDAs, product development, technology deals, etc.
Serve as an in-house legal expert for regulatory developments and enforcement trends, advising on potential business impact, including FDA, TSCA, Prop 65, EPA regulations.
Counsel business on pending legislation, laws, rules and regulations and industry trends that may impact operations/distribution.
Advise Fashion and W&FJ divisions on appropriate labeling and importation advice as needed.
Advise US R&D, Regulatory Affairs departments, and F&B Innovation Department, on strategic transactions for innovative and sustainable product development.
Manage and oversee product-related claims , and insurance-related matters
Streamline and drive US content and product approval process with IP Counsel and Regulatory Affairs.
Assist in responding to government inquiries and audits as needed
Interface and partner with key stakeholders in the US and abroad.

Interacting with the FDA, FTC, CPSC, EPA and/or other federal, state and local government agencies as needed

Creating and executing product-related regulatory trainings (including Hazmat training)

6 years, minimum, of relevant legal experience (ideally both with a law firm and in-house)
Bachelor’s Degree and a Juris Doctorate
New York Bar Member in good standing
This role may require some domestic and international travel
