This position’s primary responsibility will be to support API’s digital and paid marketing efforts. The ideal candidate will be a multidisciplined and self-motivating marketer, experienced in driving successful digital campaigns in a fast-paced environment, who blends direct marketing expertise with analytical skills to cultivate and mobilize targets audiences. The position will also support API’s integrated communications and advocacy efforts such as list building, rapid response, internal communications, market research, and social media optimizations.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provide operational management of day-to-day marketing campaigns, including planning, targeting, set-up, testing, execution, reporting and optimization
  • Create social media campaign extensions to accompany paid media campaigns
  • Provide audience growth, optimization and targeting recommendations to the digital and issues teams
  • Support integrated campaigns as liaison to departments outside of Communications
  • Help establish growth benchmarks and KPIs; and lead the curation of analytics and insights reports on editorial content and audience growth
  • Ensure that best practices are applied to achieve standards of quality, efficiency and overall alignment of content, targeting and KPIs
  • Manage outside vendors in the creation and production of assets
  • Ensure that consultants meet timeline and budget guidelines, and that their work is consistent with API standards and needs
  • Management and strategic support of API’s Google AdWords account

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in communications, journalism, or related field
  • 3 – 5 years’ experience building and managing digital, social marketing campaigns with trade associations, government or other related experience
  • Strong marketing, analytical and research skills, work ethic, independence, problem solving ability, and over-all positive attitude
  • Ability to prioritize (and juggle) projects in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong computer knowledge and skills, including in-depth knowledge and proficiency with the Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint) and other relevant software
  • In-depth knowledge and proficiency with digital and social marketing tools and platforms such as Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Salesforce, KnowWho, etc.
  • Experience with performance measurement and digital tracking tools such as Google Analytics, Google Tag Manager, Google Adwords and conversions tools such as Double Click, Facebook AdsManager, Twitter AdsManager and LinkedIn AdsManager
  • High attention to detail; someone who triple-checks work and is confident in the end analysis
  • Demonstrated success in driving audience growth through recommended optimizations/tests (in particular, website traffic, social media engagement and database growth)
  • Ability to manage outside vendors, and ensure that a product, timelines and budget guidance is followed
  • Passionate, curious self-starter who pursues thorough data analysis to spot new content-related and business opportunities
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills
  • Familiarity with newest digital and direct marketing tools and industry trends, and a passion for being up-to-date and on trend with the latest the industry is offering

Preferred, but not required:

  • Advertising agency experience
  • Political campaign experience
