The Senior Director of Advocacy will create, enhance, direct, and sustain an ongoing network of credible Novavax relationships among and between provider, policy and patient/consumer organizations that touch our relevant population/s in the U.S., Canada, and Latin America. Additionally in this role the Sr. Director will work closely with the Global VP of Advocacy to design strategic plans across the globe and facilitate exceptional working relationships across internal functions.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Collaborate with cross-functional partners to provide relevant advocates to support various approvals, tender agreements, and clinical recommendations.
  • Help drive education and advocacy that is consistent with our organizational mission and objectives.
  • Work with Communications, Marketing, Medical Affairs, and external vendors to create educational programs that elevate our corporate reputation, diminish vaccine hesitancy, demonstrate the company’s commitment to global equity, vaccine options, diversity, proven science, and patient safety.
  • Participate in various vaccine policy and access forums.
  • Activate third-party educational initiatives, social media, workshops, symposia, webinars, and innovative patient programs that deliver our message.
  • Galvanize collective action to enhance or defend our business interests.
  • Integrate mutual partnerships that drive education about our vaccines and their benefits.
  • Represent the company at corporate roundtables and relevant national/local conferences.
  • Lead cross-functional Advocacy strategies with Government Affairs, Market Access, Marketing and Communications, Sales, Medical Education, Regulatory, Compliance and R&D.
  • Provide guidance about sponsorships and support for third-party organizations.
  • Ensure legal and regulatory compliance.
  • Help foster employee engagement through internal events that showcase the patient journey.

Minimum requirements:

  • Strategic leadership with a minimum of 10 years in Advocacy in the industry, preferably within our therapeutic vaccine market/s. Existing related relationships.
  • BA/BS Degree or higher
  • Ability to cultivate, sustain and enhance relationships with key influencers and organizations in a variety of therapeutic areas.
  • Track record of excellence in managing people and teams
  • Strong negotiation skills

  • Clinical acumen and passion for patients and families
  • Keep understanding of industry compliance regulations, including educational grants, contributions and third-party contracts.

  • Provides appropriate counsel to Senior Management.
  • Orchestrates opportunities for Senior Management to meet with priority stakeholders.
  • Align with internal stakeholders to positively enhance strategic initiatives, planning, education, public policy and market access.
  • Help filed sales optimize Advocacy relations on the local level throughout the world.
  • Enhance employee engagement by providing the patient/parent and third-party organization perspective to employees.
  • Assists Corporate Communications and Marketing with special events and media outreach.
  • Orchestrates clinical educational days and facility tours for external stakeholders.

Education:

  • Bachelor’s Degree, Clinical background a plus but not required.
