Senior Director, Government Affairs
Climb Hire is looking for a public facing leader who is passionate about workforce development and opening paths of opportunity for non-traditional job seekers to obtain meaningful careers. Applicants for this position should be excited about working with municipal, local, state, and the Federal government to supply high potential job seekers with resources and connections that will catapult them into the local economy.
The Climb Hire Story
Three years ago, we had a hypothesis. Everywhere we looked, companies complained about the “war for talent,” and the impossible task of finding gritty, entry-level candidates for their open roles. At the same time, we noticed that there was a dearth of hungry, fresh talent out there with tons of aptitude and drive, largely stuck in a cycle of under and unemployment whilst flying under the radar screen of tech and corporate America. They lacked robust professional networks and the skills to “break in.” Thus, Climb Hire was born – grounded in the idea that by blending social capital-building, skills-based training, and community, we could close the experience chasm and get companies the diverse and determined talent they want and need.
We launched in 2019 with seed funding from Gates, Google, and LinkedIn. Since then, hundreds of people have gone through our unique training and have landed incredible jobs with companies like Google, Salesforce, Discord, IBM, BetterUp, Galileo, and more. Average wage gains are $20-30k, ~60% above the industry standard. We’ve also been riding the growth rocketship, expanding to over 20 cities nationwide. We are gearing up grow from serving hundreds of Climbers a year to thousands. On the program side, we’ve grown from one to four training tracks including: Salesforce Administration, Google Project Management, Customer Experience and Sales, and Financial Services with Fidelity Investments.
Climb Hire – Director of Government Affairs Overview
The Director of Government Affairs will work closely with the CEO and the Director of Talent and Employer Partnerships to monitor relationships with government entities, apply for and secure public funding, and grow Climb Hires network among municipalities and cities across the United States. That is why the need for this role is essential to the business as we continue to grow and scale.
Build relationships with strategic leaders in priority states and cities on sourcing opportunities for low wage workers to train and secure middle class jobs.
Initiate and strengthen relationships with local and national government and workforce agencies across the United States.
Find, maintain and track existing programs, including opportunities through local and national procurement requests or renewals.
Manage day-to-day public partnership relationship management
Launch and scale public partnerships that align with Climb Hire’s mission and growth plans.
Track and manage opportunities for public grants.
Leverage support from advocacy organizations, industry leaders and academic and research groups to strengthen support for public partnerships.
10+ years of professional experience and strong track record in securing partnerships in government relations and/or workforce development sectors highly desired.
Excellent communication and exceptional presentation skills.
Proficiency in Google Suite, Salesforce, and Microsoft Office.
Strong quantitative and analytical skills
Entrepreneurial, resourceful and open to change; flexible and adaptable with a demonstrated success managing shifting priorities
