Job Description Summary

This remote role will support the U.S. GE Healthcare business leadership through the development and implementation of state government affairs and policy initiatives. The position will report functionally to the Head of Government Affairs and Policy in the U.S. and will be a member of the Global Government Affairs and Policy Team.

Job Description

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement strategies to protect and promote GE Healthcare priorities through engagement with State Government entities including the Executive Branch, State Legislatures, and other State and Local Government entities.
  • Work with GE Healthcare’s U.S. business and function leadership to ensure awareness of key state issues and build GE Healthcare’s policy positions on those issues.
  • Shape emerging state legislation to the benefit of GE Healthcare and its customers.
  • Retain and manage State Government Affairs consultants in key states.
  • Support commercial and market development opportunities identified by the business in which state government is an instrumental decision-maker or regulator.
  • Work closely with GE Healthcare Public Affairs leaders to identify and deliver opportunities to position GE as a community leader in states and localities, including on Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) priorities.
  • Engage and lead state government affairs initiatives within key national and state health care trade associations, as well as state-based provider and patient organizations to ensure GE Healthcare’s leadership on key industry issues and initiatives in the states.
  • Work with GE Healthcare Political Advocacy Programs leader on employee engagement and state grassroots activities.
  • Coordinate with GE Healthcare Federal Government Affairs colleagues to manage local relationships with federal elected officials.
  • Support GE Healthcare Regulatory Affairs on issues related to state and local regulation.
  • Oversee GE Healthcare’s compliance with all required registrations, disclosures, and filings in all matters related to State Government Affairs activities.


  • Minimum 7-year experience in state government or state government affairs field.
  • Remote role, prefer if incumbent is based near a state capitol.
  • Substantive understanding and expertise in state health, technology, and business policy.
  • Demonstrated understanding of state and local government policy development and decision-making processes, including ability to identify and have access to key policy makers and other stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated orientation towards business growth and experience in connecting policy and business outcomes.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to advise GE Healthcare business leaders.
  • Proven leader with high degree of personal initiative.
  • Strong public speaking and written communication skills.
