Nelnet’s communications team and in-house ad agency are looking for a proven strategic and creative corporate communications leader. The Corporate Communications, Senior Manager will lead the company’s communications team and partner with leaders and stakeholders from across the company to help Nelnet live its core values, meet corporate goals, and strengthen associate engagement.
Our team comprised of over 35 communication and marketing professionals, supports the communications, marketing, advertising, public relations, and branding efforts for all of all Nelnet’s 24+ businesses. We produce effective, award-winning creative and communications that help move Nelnet move forward.
This position is responsible for leading Nelnet’s enterprise-level communication, content, and messaging strategy, developing and optimizing effective communication channels, and providing strategic communication counsel. The role requires an experienced, self-motivated, creative, and lifelong learner who seeks out strong relationships within a dynamic, fast-paced environment. This strategic thinker also requires attention to detail.

This position requires work in support of the Company’s contract with the United States Department of Education (“ED”). As such, the United States Government requires that any applicant for this position must complete United States Government security clearance. Effective June 1, 2018, ED has informed Nelnet that security clearance applications for foreign nationals are not being accepted or processed. In light of this direction from ED, Nelnet will be unable to hire applicants without United States citizenship for such positions.

Job Description
•    Lead Nelnet’s internal communications strategy, planning, and execution.
•    Devise proactive, multi-channel campaigns for corporate activities, announcements, and initiatives.
•    Responsible for the vision, the roadmap, development in partnership with marketing and IT, collaboration with content owners, as well as overall governance of the communication and collaboration platforms.
•    Collaborate with the marketing team and stakeholders from across the company to develop a content strategy that advances the company’s brand strategy and other goals.
•    Ensure continuity and consistency of messaging across divisions, audiences, and channels.
•    Work closely with marketing, creative, and the production teams to produce effective content.
•    Provide trusted communications counsel to business leaders and thought leadership across the organization.
•    Optimize Nelnet’s communication channels and collaboration tools for better performance.

Education:

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent

Experience:

Minimum of 8 years of experience in communications, public relationships, social media, or marketing

Competencies: — Skills/Knowledge/Abilities:

High level of verbal and written skill required; pays attention to details; relies on experience and judgement to plan and accomplish goals, performs a variety of tasks; a degree of creativity and latitude is expected; possess strong problem-solving and analytical skills. Communications and marketing or communications background preferred; expertise in user experience and communication strategy; must be able to handle high volume of projects; people leadership and decision-making skills; excellent customer service skills; and ability to work independently and in a group. Proficient in Microsoft Suite/O365/SharePoint preferred.

Colorado candidates: salary for this role is $80,000-$110,000.
