Position Reports to: Director & Head of EU Government Affairs
The Senior Manager, EU Government Affairs (EUGA), reports to the Director & Head of EUGA and is responsible for leading the creation, development and execution of EU-level strategies on key Pfizer priorities. The Senior Manager will be part of a small and highly-networked team working with colleagues across the Pfizer organization on EU policy and legislation, aiming to maintain and improve a favorable investment and operating environment for Pfizer in Europe, contributing to Pfizer’s global strategic goals.
In alignment with the Director/Head of EUGA, the Senior Manager will:
Lead cross-functional teams, develop and execute government affairs strategies on key EU policy and legislative initiatives. Examples may include oncology (Europe’s Beating Cancer Plan) and digital health (European Health Data Space).
Shape/Lead trade association activities on assigned topics (EFPIA, EuropaBio, AmCham EU).
Secure external stakeholder support at EU level for priority legislation and policies related to our Business Units’ commercial priorities.
Develop and leverage strong relationships with EU government officials and other stakeholders at EU level, including umbrella patient groups.
Represent Pfizer externally in public debates, meetings, conferences.
Develop policy and communications materials for use in EU advocacy activities
Education: Master’s Degree in European Studies, EU law, political science, economics or similar.
Approx. 7-10 years’ experience in EU institutions, trade associations, in-house public affairs, policy, or government relations, preferably in the healthcare and pharmaceutical field.
Well organized, highly motivated, creative team player
Deep understanding of EU political environment and legislative/decision-making process.
A broad and deep understanding of key stakeholders and influencers in the healthcare and pharmaceutical field is a must. Specific experience and knowledge of oncology policy and digital health issues are an asset.
You are resilient, able to work independently and in a team environment, and with all levels of the organization and government officials.
Strong network in Brussels is an asset.
Strong experience in developing and driving strategies with measurable results, and coalition building in complex policy environments.
In addition to an excellent level of oral and written English, you have preferably 1 or 2 European languages.
