Senior Manager, Federal Affairs

Washington, DC

Description

INRIX is the global leader in connected car services and transportation analytics, an approach that leverages big data and cutting-edge analytics to help manage and improve mobility. INRIX solutions are key tools for our customers – including cities, states and national governments around the world – to understand and tackle priorities including transportation safety, equity, emissions and efficiency. Central to INRIX’s success is ensuring policymakers understand the solutions we offer and that our roadmap is informed by the public sector’s needs of tomorrow.

As the Senior Manager of Federal Affairs your job is to help shape the future of federal transportation policy and funding. This position reports to our Global Head of Public Policy, and you’ll help develop and lead an impactful and comprehensive federal government relations strategy that will prioritize smart cities and big data solutions. You must have a passion for public policy, established relationships in Washington, and experience working on Capitol Hill or at the U.S. Department of Transportation.

What you’ll do:

  • Build and maintain relationships with key policymakers
  • Build INRIX’s reputation on key mobility policy and industry issues through strategic public engagement
  • Analyze federal policy to understand impact, opportunity and risk
  • Help inform our product roadmap and company vision by being an expert in on key legislative and regulatory developments
  • Support the INRIX sales team with regular policy updates, funding alerts, RFP input and subject matter expertise
  • Experience working in a mid-size, high-tech environment with fast-growth and technological innovation at its core

Who you are:

  • You have 5+ years’ relevant public policy and government affairs experience, including at least several years working on Capitol Hill, as agency staff, and/or for a relevant nonprofit, trade association or transportation company
  • You’re an expert on transportation and technology policy (bonus points for experience working on transportation data, smart cities, automated vehicles, micromobility and/or road safety topics)
  • You’re based in Washington, D.C. and have an extensive network on the Hill, at key agencies, with trade associations, and advocacy groups working on transportation mobility topics
  • You have a strong track-record of government relations (or service), including effective lobbying strategies, strategic communications, stakeholder organizing, and the mechanics of policymaking
  • You have an advanced degree in public policy or law (or equivalent work experience)
  • You’re comfortable working in a flexible environment and love collaborating across teams and pitching in

What would set you apart:

  • You’re a transportation wonk… you’re passionate about how smart investments in transportation can improve lives and make us safer, healthier and happier (you get more excited for TRB than CES)
  • You’re a self-starter… INRIX has a strong start-up culture and success in this role will be driven by your ability to identify new angles and opportunities for INRIX engagement
  • You’re a recognized transportation policy expert… your expertise and communications prowess has established you as a go-to source for insight and analysis of what’s happening in the world of transportation
  • You’re up to speed beyond D.C… you’re plugged in to what’s happening in the policy world outside of Washington and see the interplay between federal, state, local and international policy topics

INRIX offers a competitive compensation package that includes annual and long-term incentives as well as generous benefits and perks.
