Senior Manager, Global Tax Policy

Role Summary:This position is responsible for assisting in the development and advancement of the tax policy priorities of GE on a global basis, including a key focus on US federal and state policy.Essential Responsibilities:

  • Manage U.S. Federal tax policy advocacy efforts to support GE tax priorities
  • Manage U.S. state tax policy advocacy efforts in key states in support of GE tax priorities
  • Coordinate GE global tax policy priorities with Tax, Government Affairs and outside counsel teams
  • Engage with senior policy officials, including Congressional staff and Members of Congress, to advocate on behalf of GE on issues with significant financial and strategic impact to GE, including primary responsibility with select offices
  • Draft and review written materials (memos, presentations, talking points) for both internal and external audiences on tax policy matters
  • Provide timely updates to business management at senior leadership staff levels on tax legislative issues and emerging trends and developments
  • Coordinate tax policy engagement across Government Affairs and Policy function to ensure a comprehensive and effective strategy and assist on other top GE policy priorities as well as on overall GE policy priorities
  • Represent GE at trade association and industry group meetings and ensure business priorities are addressed in effective manner
  • Work with public affairs and communications teams on think tank and thought leadership engagement relating to important economic and tax policy topics
  • Manage LDA process for tax employees


  • Bachelor’s Degree in economics, public policy, or a related field
  • Advanced degree preferred: J.D. or master’s degree in business, public policy, or a related fields
  • 5-10 years of experience in tax policy
  • Legislative/Congressional experience is a requirement
  • Understanding of global governmental policy development and decision-making processes, including the ability to identify and provide input to key decision makers
  • Substantive understanding of tax policy issues and firm command of economic, budget and tax policy issues and trends

  • Excellent communication skills – written and verbal, ability to engage effectively with principals and cross-functional teams
  • Demonstrated expertise with Microsoft software applications – Excel, Word, PowerPoint
  • Proficiency utilizing a wide variety of digital tools
