The Role

The Senior Manager is responsible for representing Fidelity’s presence in Florida and advancing the company’s business interests through government relations and public affairs. Primary government relations responsibilities include all aspects of local and state legislative affairs in Jacksonville and Florida, including issue tracking, advocacy on key issues and relationship management with elected officials. The role also includes relationship development and issues management in additional Southeast states.  Active civic engagement and representation in community events and activities is required, as well as end-to-end execution of all Fidelity Cares employee volunteer activities.

The Expertise and Skills You Bring

We’re looking someone with government and community relations experience to represent Fidelity in the community with policymakers, business groups and non-profit organizations.

  • College degree required
  • Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in government relations, community/external affairs, and/or community relations
  • Strong relationship building skills at all levels, effectively toggling between associate-level and leadership, as well as government staff and elected officials
  • Effective advocacy with policymakers, either in-person or remotely and through written and verbal communications
  • Experience in strategy and planning, as well as the ability to implement and complete plans
  • Ability to work in an agile environment and navigate ambiguity
  • Strong event management skills for all aspects of large and small events, from start to finish
  • Familiarity with the Florida and Southeast communities helpful

Regional Public Affairs

As the face of Fidelity in the region’s business, nonprofit and government communities, you will engage chambers of commerce, trade associations and nonprofit partners to enhance Fidelity’s corporate and community profile in the state and region. This is achieved by representing Fidelity on boards, commissions, and task forces; identifying and fulfilling on partnership and sponsorship opportunities that advance Fidelity’s regional goals; engaging employees in a diverse set of volunteer initiatives that advance Fidelity’s corporate community relations strategy (education and financial literacy); and partnering to obtain favorable news coverage that supports corporate and regional priorities.

Government Relations

As the single point of government relations contact for Jacksonville, Florida, and the Southeast region, you will work with Fidelity’s federal government relations, regional public affairs and public policy teams to monitor and review legislative trends, assess policy threats/opportunities and lobby elected officials on legislation of interest to Fidelity.

Internal Business Value

In partnership with the Regional Leadership Teams, we develop expertise on business operations and its specific challenges/opportunities and create dynamic strategies to address and manage those needs. We work with business development contacts to develop integrated support strategies and assist with introductions and relationship development as permitted by Compliance. We also leverage our Fidelity Cares volunteer program to engage employees in support of talent recruitment and retention, and other regional business priorities.

The Team

The Public Affairs and Policy Group oversees Fidelity’s interactions with federal, state, and local governments, and manages employee volunteerism/engagement in the communities where we live and work. Because many of Fidelity’s products, services, and operations were created by law, or are subject to regulation, we play a significant role in promoting and protecting Fidelity’s values, business, and brand.
