Senior Manager, Public Affairs & Media Relations
The American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) seeks an experienced and proactive strategic communications professional with outstanding writing, editing and verbal communication skills to manage and implement media relations activities and maintain and strengthen the ASCE brand among external audiences . The successful candidate for this position will thrive in a fast-paced environment and be capable of managing many competing priorities at once.
Primary responsibilities include increasing awareness of the civil engineering profession and the association’s strategic initiatives through: managing media outreach; developing media materials, including advisories, news releases and Op-Eds; fielding media inquiries; and managing special projects as needed. Position reports to Managing Director, Government Relations & Infrastructure Initiatives. Position manages one junior media relations staff member.
Requirements: BA in communications, public relations, journalism or related field; 5 7 years of experience with demonstrated success in media relations; and strong writing and organizational skills. Knowledge of social media and media relations monitoring software a plus.
