Position Overview:
Part of CECP’s role is to transform and equip corporate leaders with industry-leading tools, knowledge, connections, and
advice to innovate and integrate purpose into business strategy and teams, increasing social impact and company growth.
By providing corporate responsibility (CR), sustainability, environmental-social-governance (ESG), investor relations (IR),
and related terms teams with actionable content, relevant insights, and excellent connections, CECP builds its corporate
network, deepens company engagement, collaborates with domestic and global partners, and creates thought leadership
for the field.
CECP is seeking a Senior Manager, Purpose & Voice, to help advance CECP through thought leadership, and internal and
external communications efforts. The core audiences for this role are media, internal teams—including Corporate Strategy
and Insights and the CEO Investor Forum, and the multi-billion-dollar companies in the CECP coalition. This position will
lead efforts to develop CECP’s voice and create content to communicate its unique message and offerings to a broader
audience, inspiring companies to do more. With compelling narratives in hand, this position will connect the organization
to a larger national and global conversation within companies, in the media, and elsewhere. The Senior Manager will
report to the Senior Director, Communications and Marketing, and will be part of a team of four.
Be an integral part of the Communications and Marketing team, taking part in team and one-on-one meetings to share
progress, and seek support from and offer assistance to team members.
Brand Voice (15%)
 Craft an overarching plan to enhance the CECP voice, positioning the organization in a broader and more
compelling fashion

 Continue to advance awareness of and engagement with CECP to a wider audience, including serving as an
external representative of the brand at conferences and events
 Lead the internal CECP Issues & Impact Council, working with colleagues to surface issues of importance to
society and companies
Media Relations (40%)
 Develop and execute a proactive and reactive media program to disseminate thought leadership related to CECP’s
point of view to relevant, first-tier media and infuse CECP into conversations about the most pressing issues of the
day, supported by company stories of impact on those issues, CECP thought leadership, and data
 Craft and implement effective external communications and media plans that showcase CECP’s expertise by
highlighting the organization’s unique value, building awareness of thought leadership, disseminating CECP
reports, and sharing highlights from multiple events
 Build new and further existing relationships among media that strengthen the “business case” for corporate
purpose to change the national dialogue and bring issues into the collective conscience; build awareness for
CECP’s value, services, and impact among that dialogue
 Manage media relations including: fielding media inquiries and supporting staff interviews; timely responses to
news articles, op-eds, and letters-to-the-editor; tracking and measuring media outreach (through Meltwater);
using analytics to inform strategy; and developing and placing advertisements
Calendar and project planning (30%)
 Plan CECP thought leadership opportunities in advance to establish annual cadence; create editorial calendar and
determine content to share on a regular basis; work across teams to package and distribute monthly trends
Company Services (15%)
 Support companies on communications strategies through CECP’s fast-track consulting and opt-in projects
Remote work from home until at least September 2021; CECP will continue to offer ongoing remote work flexibility, and
some office/NYC area time will be required once offices are open.

This job is for you if you have:
 Passion for CECP’s mission to create a better world through business
 Demonstrated success as an external communications professional, with at least 7 years of experience developing
and leading comprehensive external communications, media relations, and marketing strategies to advance an
organization’s mission and goals, with a clear understanding of the nuances and sensitivities around corporate
 Experience working in corporate social responsibility/ESG is preferred
 Demonstrated experience setting ambitious and measurable goals, and leading high-impact communications and
media project plans to completion with excellence and accuracy; an ability to make decisions in a fast-paced
environment with a high-level of attention to detail
 Exceptional written, interpersonal, and presentation skills and the ability to effectively interface with CECP’s CEOs,
corporate giving professionals, investor relations teams, and top-tier business media; established relationships
with business media is preferred
 Self-starter with a sense of humor and an entrepreneurial, roll-up-your-sleeves approach
 Commitment to being a strong, reliable member of a close-knit group that values a supportive team culture
 Training, certification, or advanced education in relevant subject matter expertise areas, communications, or related
